Tyler Price takes a look at Wolves trip to Spurs and 5 key things we learnt from this match.

1. An increase in confidence for Hwang

In his brief appearance against Leicester, Hwang seemed more confident. A goal against United and today another superb finish. It’s clear that a confident Hwang is a very good player. There’s obviously something between the player and Gary O’Neil that affected his performance.

2. Set pieces

Another set piece conceded, and it needs to be sorted quickly. Shortly after the first goal, Dragusin nearly scored again. This is our biggest weakness by far. At the other end, though, Hwang’s set piece finish was sublime. That creativity was something we didn’t see under Gary O’Neil and it’s nice to see the spark reignited in this team. There’s more fight and desire under this manager.

3. Cunha’s influence

Since Cunha was substituted, we seemed slower. His role in this team is huge, and if a potential ban happens, he will be missed. An injury could ease the pain of the ban as he’d be sidelined anyway, but he seems fine!

4. Matt Doherty’s redemption

Doherty faced a lot of fan criticism last season, and rightly so due to his performances. He was a shadow of his former self, and signing him again was low risk but not very useful. Since the managerial change, Doherty’s performances have improved drastically. The shift to a more central defender role has made him shine as a key player in this Wolves side.

5. Vitor Pereira

The lineup today was heavily rotated, with players like Larsen, Rodrigo, and Guedes dropped. He also switched to a back four in the final 15 minutes, showing he wants to adapt his system to fit the game. O’Neil would stick to his style, leading to constant losses and pressure on his tenure. He also substituted Forbs, who wasn’t expected to play in previous matches. He is sharp and lively, adding pace on the break. It’s nice to see the gaffer using these players. He also brought on Larsen, who scored the equaliser. I think this lineup played for a quicker tempo and better ball movement, with Larsen coming on as the defence tired clearly working.

All from me…UP THE WOLVES!!!
