22-year-old Chem Campbell has extended his stay with Reading to the end of the season.
The former Wales U17 international has so far made 22 appearances in all competitions for Reading with five goals and four assists, helping the League One side to sixth place and a play-off battle.
Campbell made his debut for Wolves all the way back in 2019 in an EFL Cup loss to Aston Villa aged just 16. Once linked with top clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Campbell has perhaps not hit the heights that many had predicted, but he still has plenty of time to fulfil his potential and his loan spell at the Select Car Leasing stadium has been far and way his best one yet after more unproductive spells with Charlton Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers respectively.
Reading manager Noel Hunt has been full of praise for Campbell, saying “He has really grown into the season and has become an important part of our team” on a press release available on Reading’s website. ‘The Royals’ currently have a game in hand on Barnsley above them in 5th and face a tricky tie with Stockport County who are in 7th next week.
Campbell will be in FA Cup action this weekend when his team hosts Championship opposition in Burnley. Campbell’s current contract with parent club Wolves expires at the end of next season.
