Dave & Em’s Premier League Predictions Matchweek 17

Premier League Week 17 Predictions: Dave vs Emma, Wolves Chat & Match Bingo

Week 17 is here, the fixtures are coming thick and fast, and the battle of the Premier League predictions between Dave and Emma is hotting up again.

There was more late heartbreak for Wolves, but it was at least a decent performance, which just about sums up the mood at Molineux right now. On top of that, Dave has pulled further clear in the prediction league, Emma is trying to mount a comeback, and there is a packed Christmas schedule on the way.

Below is a full breakdown of Week 16 scores, every single Week 17 prediction from Dave and Emma, some Wolves chat, how Match Bingo works, and a fun Q&A to finish.

Week 16 results: Dave pulls ahead

Wolves lost again, and once more it was a case of late drama going against them. It was not a terrible performance, more last‑minute heartbreak, which Wolves fans know all about at this point.

In brighter news for one half of the prediction duo, Dave had a very strong Week 16. He nailed the Brentford vs Leeds result exactly and picked up several extra points from correct outcomes.

Dave & Em's Premier League Predictions Matchweek 17

Week 17 preview: fixtures coming thick and fast

Matchweek 17 looks tasty from top to bottom. There are big games at both ends of the table and it all falls right in the build‑up to Christmas, when the fixtures pile up and squads get stretched.

There is also a decent amount of agreement between Dave and Emma this week. When they match up, it usually means one of two things, either they both have a good week, or they both end up miles off.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea

Newcastle head into this one on the back of a very heated Tyne‑Wear derby. Some footage showed fans throwing chairs and wrecking the place, which surprised both Dave and Emma, who rate Newcastle fans highly.

There has also been noise online about Eddie Howe, with some calling for him to be sacked. Emma mentions that he was very late for his press conference at one stage, which got people talking. Both of them feel that social media does not always reflect the wider fanbase, and they agree Howe has done brilliantly for Newcastle.

Despite all that, they both see Chelsea edging this one.

Dave Newcastle 1 Chelsea 2

Emma Newcastle 1 Chelsea 2

Bournemouth vs Burnley

Bournemouth at home to Burnley splits opinion slightly.

  • Dave: Bournemouth 3–1 Burnley He thinks Bournemouth are strong at home, Burnley do not travel well, and that the Cherries should have too much.

  • Emma: Bournemouth 1–1 Burnley She has gone back to one of her trusted predictions, the 1‑1 draw. She even admits that Dave might be right about Bournemouth winning but sticks with the draw.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Sunderland

This one is described as a really hard game to call, with both sides seen as good teams.

  • Dave: Brighton 2–1 Sunderland He fancies Brighton to edge it at home. He notes that Sunderland fans are cock‑a‑hoop after their derby win, which came from a Newcastle own goal. As Wolves fans, they joke they know plenty about own goals.

  • Emma: Brighton 2–2 Sunderland She almost went for a Brighton win as well, but she feels she has been doing Sunderland a disservice for weeks by expecting them to slip up. She settles on a high‑scoring draw instead, while half‑expecting that this might finally be the week Sunderland come unstuck.

Wolves get a mention again here, with the pair laughing that Wolves are very good at own goals, which is not exactly the badge of honour you want.

Manchester City vs West Ham United

Talk turns to Manchester City at home to West Ham, and Nuno gets brought up in relation to West Ham in a slightly tongue‑in‑cheek way. Either way, neither of them give the Hammers much hope at the Etihad.

  • Emma: Manchester City 2–0 West Ham She feels City will have too much quality and that West Ham will struggle to lay a glove on them.

  • Dave: Manchester City 3–0 West Ham He goes one further and predicts a heavier defeat, joking that the Hammers will get hammered.

Both expect a routine City win.

Wolves vs Brentford

This is the big one for Always Wolves viewers, with Wolves at home to Brentford.

Emma was very negative about Wolves’ chances away at Arsenal last week, but this time she feels Wolves have a better opportunity. She still has concerns, though, about how the team are coping with the pressure at Molineux. She mentions that Molineux is not a happy place at the moment and that this atmosphere might not actually be helping the players.

Dave is also not convinced home advantage is a big plus right now.

  • Dave: Stay tuned for the match preview to get Dave’s score.

  • Emma: Wolves 2 Brentford 1

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

Both Spurs and Liverpool are labelled as unpredictable, which makes this one tricky.

  • Dave: Tottenham 2–2 Liverpool
  • Emma: Tottenham 2–2 Liverpool

They both go for an entertaining draw, agreeing that both teams have enough firepower to score and enough chaos to concede. Emma teases Dave about his messy handwriting on the prediction sheet.

Everton vs Arsenal

Arsenal have to go up to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the late kick‑off.

Emma looks back at Wolves’ performance at Arsenal, where Wolves sat in, stayed structured and defended well for long spells. She wonders if Everton can learn from that approach.

  • Emma: Everton 0–2 Arsenal She thinks Arsenal will stick to winning ways and still believes Arsenal would have found a way to beat Wolves even without Wolves’ mistakes.

  • Dave: Everton 1–1 Arsenal He has more faith in Everton at home. He feels they are strong and that it will be a difficult match for Arsenal, so he takes the draw.

Leeds United vs Crystal Palace

Another late game on the Saturday sees Leeds host Crystal Palace.

  • Emma: Leeds 1–1 Crystal Palace She goes for another draw.

  • Dave: Leeds 1–2 Crystal Palace He tips Palace to win, not because he dislikes Leeds, but because he feels Palace are very good this season. From a Wolves point of view, he also wants to keep some hope alive of catching teams above them, and Leeds dropping points helps that.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United

There is only one game on the Sunday, which they both find a bit odd.

Aston Villa are described as being on fire at the moment. They did not start the season that well, but now they have built up a big winning run, around six or seven games in a row.

Manchester United are coming off a wild 4–4 draw. There is also a mention of Matheus Cunha kissing the Manchester United badge in a previous moment, which Wolves fans will have seen before.

Both see Villa continuing their form.

  • Dave: Aston Villa 2–1 Manchester United
  • Emma: Aston Villa 2–1 Manchester United

They are fully on the Villa train for this one.

Fulham vs Nottingham Forest

The Monday night game is Fulham against Nottingham Forest and both line up with the same score again.

  • Dave: Fulham 1–1 Nottingham Forest
  • Emma: Fulham 1–1 Nottingham Forest

Emma laughs when she realises they have gone for the same score yet again, and Dave confirms his sheet also says 1–1. It is that kind of week.
