WATCH FOR OUR THOUGHTS FOLLOWING WOLVES CATASTROPHIC DEFEAT TO EVERTON

Everton 4-0 Wolves: A Night to Forget

Another night, another disappointment for Wolves fans. After a crushing 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park, frustration has boiled over, and for good reason. This performance wasn’t just bad—it felt completely devoid of effort, structure, and pride. Here’s the breakdown of what went wrong and why things need to change, fast.

A Promising Start Quickly Falls Apart

For the first 5-8 minutes, Wolves actually looked the better side. There was some positivity, some energy. But the second Everton scored their first goal, the cracks widened, and everything fell apart. It was as if the team gave up, battles were lost all over the pitch, and Everton exploited every weakness with ease.

Set-piece defending? Non-existent. Everton slotted in four goals, but let’s not forget they also had two disallowed, missed sitters, and caused panic in the box with every delivery. They could’ve easily scored six or more. Wolves looked like strangers, a group of individuals without a cohesive plan or identity.

Where Is the Fight?

Everton came into this match struggling—they hadn’t scored in four consecutive games—yet they played like a team fighting for survival. They pressed with energy, showed passion, and believed in their mission. Wolves, on the other hand, looked defeated before the final whistle even approached.

What’s hardest to swallow is the fans’ loyalty and dedication in the face of this disaster. Thousands travelled to Goodison Park, sacrificing time and money, only to be rewarded with such a lacklustre performance. The players did clap the supporters at the end, but it doesn’t excuse the display on the pitch.

Poor Decisions, Poor Leadership

The problems don’t stop with the players. Wolves’ issues run far deeper, and a large chunk of the blame has to fall on the manager and the board. During a press conference ahead of this game, Gary O’Neil was asked about his position and the fans’ perception of his job. His response? “I have zero concerns about my future as a coach.”

What kind of message does that send? When the team is in shambles, you want your manager to show passion, commitment, and responsibility. Instead, there’s an air of indifference. Statements like that make it feel like he’s already packed his bags.

It’s hard to ignore the tactical missteps, too. Playing Lemina in defence when Toti was on the bench was baffling. Craig Dawson, normally a steady presence, was off the pace. The team’s confidence looks shot, and these decisions aren’t helping.

Wolves Fans Deserve Better

One of the few bright spots on a grim evening? The fans. Their chants and humour in the face of a 4-0 drubbing were the only things bringing a little light to the darkness. With four minutes of injury time left, Wolves supporters were singing songs like, “We’ve lost the ball—we’ve got the ball back!” It’s gallows humour at its finest and a stark reminder that the fans are the heart of the club.

But they deserve far more than this. Week after week, loyal supporters are being let down, and enough is enough. The board needs to act, bringing in a manager with a stronger vision and  making serious investments in January, action is overdue.

Time for Big Changes

It’s not just about sacking Gary O’Neil—it’s about giving this talented squad proper leadership. Wolves have quality players who’ve worked under some of the best managers in the world. They need someone with experience and gravitas to unify them and bring out their best.

Whoever the new manager is, they can’t be another cheap gamble. Wolves can’t afford to get this wrong.

Player Ratings: A Night to Forget

  • Performance Rating: 0/10.
  • Man of the Match: The fans, for their unwavering support.
  • Moment That Made Fans Smile: The final whistle, mercifully ending the ordeal.

What’s Next?

With West Ham waiting in the wings, Wolves need to turn things around immediately. Without decisive action, this season risks spiralling further out of control. Out of darkness, cometh light? Wolves fans will certainly hope so, but tonight, it feels darker than ever.

The board has a short time to make things right, and if they don’t, they’ll face growing resentment from the fanbase. Wolves cannot continue in this direction for much longer. Something has to give.
