LOUIE LEFEVRE BRINGS EXCITING NEWS FROM WOLVES WOMENS ACADEMY
Wolverhampton Wanderers women are set for a historic match-up later this month, when a Wolves women’s academy side will take on the England U15 Schoolgirls at Hednesford Town’s Keys Park on Friday 21st February with a 7PM kick-off.
Wolves are no strangers to international football, with Molineux playing host to the England men’s senior side three years ago when Hungary stunned the three lions with a 4-0 upset. Wolves had representation on both sides with Conor Coady and Bendeguz Bolla both named on their respective benches.
The England U15 schoolgirls is a side formed by top talents from across England’s County FA’s. The players go through rigorous trial phases before a final squad is selected to compete in the Bob Docherty tournament against Northern Ireland, Scotland and Ireland.
Current Lionesses Alessia Russo, Hannah Hampton and Georgia Stanway are just some of the remarkable names on a star-studded list of players who kickstarted their international careers by representing the England schoolgirls.
Wolves will provide a valuable warm-up for the young England hopefuls, and the West Midlands has representation in both camps with Paigan Follows and Amelia Beard both being selected for the England team from the West Midlands trials.
This fixture will be the second time the England Schools FA have utilised Hednesford Town this year after the U18 Schoolboys hosted Australia last month.
This match will be a great opportunity to see and support the future stars of women’s football for Wolves and England. Tickets for the game are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, with group ticket offers available.
Fans in Wolverhampton and the West Midlands will also have a great opportunity to see England Women’s U23 side when they take on Germany at Walsall’s Poundland Bescot Stadium, just a day before the England schoolgirls fixture. There is still plenty of tickets available for the 7:30 KO on Thursday 20th February with adults priced at £5, seniors and under 18s at £3 and under 12s at just £1. It’s going to be a lively few days of international football in the area with a fantastic chance to see young stars for a great price that you won’t want to miss.
