Ipswich Town 2 Wolves 4 19th February 2003
Marcus Bent gave Ipswich Town the ideal start in their match, heading in from Darren Ambrose’s free-kick after an error by Wolves goalkeeper Michael Murray in just the second minute. This early goal put the hosts in front at 1-0.
However, Wolves equalized in the 12th minute. Joleon Lescott shrugged off Jim Magilton’s challenge before passing to George Ndah, who set up Colin Cameron. Cameron’s powerful shot was parried by goalkeeper Andy Marshall, but Kenny Miller was quick to react, slotting the ball home to make it 1-1.
Ipswich regained the lead just before half-time. Jim Magilton laid off a free-kick to Matt Holland, who unleashed a stunning 25-yard strike into the net. The captain’s goal saw the home side go into the break with a 2-1 advantage, leaving Wolves with plenty to do in the second half.
The second half started with both teams creating opportunities, mirroring the lively tempo of the first half. In the 62nd minute, Wolves found their second equalizer. Thomas Gaardsoe’s misplaced pass in midfield allowed Mark Kennedy to deliver a pinpoint cross to Kenny Miller, who calmly side-footed from close range to make it 2-2.
Wolves took the lead for the first time in the 73rd minute. A corner from Kennedy was poorly dealt with by Ipswich’s defense, allowing Lee Naylor to fire the ball into the net and put the visitors ahead 3-2.
The game was sealed in the 80th minute when Wolves broke through Ipswich’s defense yet again. Adam Proudlock linked up with Colin Cameron, who passed to George Ndah. Ndah evaded the offside trap and rounded the advancing Marshall before slotting the ball into an empty net. This goal made it 4-2, securing the victory for Wolves.

HEAD TO HEAD
Do you remember this game from back in the day?
Ipswich Town 1 Wolves 2 7th October 1995
Ipswich started the match with energy, nearly opening the scoring when Williams unleashed a long-range shot, forcing a superb save from Wolves goalkeeper Stowell.
Wolves quickly responded with an attack of their own. Goodman found space but his effort was well saved by Wright in the Ipswich goal.
The breakthrough for Ipswich came when a promising move led to a defensive error by Wolves, resulting in a penalty. Sedgley stepped up confidently and sent Stowell the wrong way, putting the home side 1-0 up in the 28th minute.
The lead was short-lived as Wolves equalized just six minutes later. Goodman went on a lively run down the flank from near the halfway line, bypassing Ipswich defenders before firing a powerful shot past Wright to make it 1-1.
Towards the end of the first half, Ipswich found themselves temporarily down to 10 men as Taricco left the pitch injured. Wolves capitalized on the advantage by piling on pressure from a corner. Poor defending in the Ipswich box allowed chaos, and the ball eventually fell to Williams (or possibly Atkins) to slot it home, giving Wolves a 2-1 lead in the 42nd minute.
In the second half, Wolves managed the game effectively, holding onto their lead with few opportunities for Ipswich to mount a comeback. The match ended 2-1, securing an important away win for Wolves.
