Wolves 2 Aston Villa 1 10th November 2019 in the Premier League at Molineux 

It took Wolves 41 minutes to open the scoring in the game when Joao Moutinho did a free kick which deceived the Aston Villa defence which got to Ruben Neves who hit his right foot effort into the bottom corner of the net from 18 yards to make it 1-0 to wolves to send the fans into ecstasy.

Wolves had almost got a 2nd goal of the game when Adama Traore came close, and the Brazilian forward Wesley had a chance to get the equaliser for Aston Villa when he curled his shot past the post.

Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota had opportunities to extend the lead for Wolves but then a brilliant cross of the ball by Adama Traore to Raul Jimenez shoot with his right foot put Wolves into a 2-0 lead to send the Wolves fans happy on the verge of beating Aston Villa for the first time in the topflight since 1978.

With the game nearing the final embers Trezeguet got a consolation goal for Aston Villa 2 minutes into added on time to give the visitors a chance to get back into the game but was too little to late and Wolves held on to win the game 2-1.

A LITTLE MORE HISTORY

Wolves 3 Aston Villa 1 2nd May 1978 in the First Division at Molineux.

Sammy Chung the Wolves manager at the time was needing a win to secure the clubs safety with one game to go at Ipswich and to send West Ham to relegation.

John Richards opened the scoring in the game in the 15h Minute when he got his first league goal since boxing day.

Aston Villa then got the equaliser when Frank Carrodus to make the game 1-1 in the 28th Minute.

Then Mel Eves popped up and grabbed his third goal in successive games when he drove a low shot which went straight thru the hands of Jimmy Rimmer on 39 minutes to make the game 2-1 to Wolves and then held on to the lead at half time.

Aston Villa had to make a substitution in the game when Andy Gray was taken off due to injury and John Gregory came on.

Then Wolves made the game much safer when Billy Rafferty came in with a near post header from a right-wing centre from Steve Daley centre on 86 Minutes to make it Wolves 3-1 and this scoreline stayed the same until the final whistle.
