  • FA Cup – The first meeting of the two clubs in the FA Cup was in the 3rd  Round on the 11th January 1936, the game finished 1-1 and went to a replay on the 15th January 1936 this game finished with a 3-1 defeat by Leeds United.
  • Premier League – The first meeting of the two clubs in the Premier league was on the 28th December 2003, the game finished 3-1 to Wolves.
  • League Cup – This was in the 3rd Round of the competition on the 9th November 2022 and the game finished 1-0 to Wolves.

MATCH OF THE DAY

There was a game played on the date of the upcoming meeting which was played on the 18th March 2022 Leeds won the game 3-2 which was the first Leeds win in 10 visits to Molineux in the top division since September 1973.

DO YOU REMEMBER?

Wolves 3 Leeds United 1 – 28th December 2003 at Molineux in the Premier League.

Leeds got off to a great start as Duberry rose unchallenged to meet an Ian Harte corner and head home from close range after less than three minutes. It was the defender’s second goal in four games. It was a familiar sight for the Wolves defence who had conceded 16 goals in the previous four games.

Henri Camara miss-hit a corner to the near post and Smith sliced his attempted clearance over the head of Paul Robinson and in off the far post to put Wolves level in the game after 18 minutes.

Then Wolves went into the lead two minutes after the interval when Newton’s right-wing cross found the head of the recalled Iversen to beat Robinson for his third of the season.

Leeds’ hopes of rescuing a point were dented when Matteo was shown a second yellow for a late challenge on Lee Naylor.

Iversen secured the win in the final minute when he got his second from close range after Camara’s shot had come back off the post.

Wolves 4 Leeds United 3 – 6th April 2015 at Molineux in the Championship.

This was a thrilling seven-goal clash at Molineux.

Charlie Taylor stunned the home crowd by handing Leeds an 11th minute lead.

Wolves soon took charge, opening up a 3-1 lead thanks to Nouha Dicko’s brace, taking his tally for the season up to 13.

Three minutes into the second half of the game Benik Afobe gave Wolves a third goal of the game to make it 3-1 to Wolves.

Then Leeds United threatened to pull off a stunning comeback with 2 more goals with a own goal from Wolves captain Danny Batth which started to give the fans the jitters which made the game 3-2 in Wolves favour and then out of the blue a goal that stunned all home fans a goal from Leeds United player Alex Mowatt from 25 yards put Leeds United back level at 3-3 with a belter.

Then Wolves had the final say in this game when Dave Edwards who came off the substitutes bench to score a header from Kevin McDonald’s left wing cross two minutes from time to send the Wolves fans into mayhem in the stands.
