Hwang Hee-chan is convinced that Gary O’Neil is enhancing Wolves’ performance with every match they play. Following their defeat to Brentford, the team made a strong comeback by securing a win against Spurs last weekend. Currently positioned 11th in the Premier League, Wolves are close to the European spots, and the striker had nothing but admiration for the head coach.
Hwang’s experience of working with O’Neil
“When the season first started, the manager had just come in and had a period where he was trying to build a strong team. I feel he has made us a great team and we are getting better with every game.
“The team is well drilled to the manager’s tactics, and I feel the results are following due to those efforts. The match gave us the confidence that we will become even better and gives us a clear idea on where we aim to head.”
On the season so far
“If we do our best every game in order to reach our goals, I’m sure results will follow. However, we can never settle and be happy with where we are, we need to keep improving and aim higher and us players are always talking about what we need to do to improve.”
On achieving a European spot
“I don’t think it’s impossible,” Hwang added. “I said at the start of the season that was one of my aims so I want to make it. I think we have a team that can do it.

Victory against Spurs
“It was a near perfect game as a team, especially defensively. In terms of attacking, there were some things we could’ve done better, but we got the result we needed in a tough away match. I’m pleased to have won against a big team in this great stadium. It gives me motivation to do better and gives us more confidence.
“I’m not 100 per cent yet as I only just came back to training in the week and started training with the team. Despite this, I thought our performance was excellent and I am proud I was able to help the team at least a little to win. I will continue to try help the team as much as possible to get results.”
“Obviously, I wanted to score. There were many Korean fans there, so I wanted to do well for them, but in the end, our team got the result we wanted, so I’m very happy. To earn three points against a strong team was a great result.”
Hwang Hee-chan’s admiration for the head coach further solidifies the positive atmosphere within the Wolves camp. With unity, talent, and a winning mentality, the team is well-positioned to continue their ascent up the Premier League table and make their mark on the European stage.
