Wolves’ new head coach, Vitor Pereira, has brought a seasoned team of coaches with him to Molineux- all of whom appeared on the bench against Leicester but have yet to be formally announced by the club. Here’s a quick look at who’s who in his backroom staff:
Luís Miguel: He has been Pereira’s assistant coach for a while now, joining him at Al Ahli and now moving with him to Wolves. Their collaboration has been consistent over the years.
André Monteiro: With a 12-year stint as an Analyst at FC Porto, Monteiro later became an assistant coach at RE Mouscron and FC Girondins de Bordeaux. In 2024, he joined Pereira at Al-Shabab before his move to Wolves.
António Ascensão: Starting as an exercise psychologist for Gabon in 2014, Ascensão transitioned to being a physical coach at CS Sfaxien and FC Arouca. He joined Pereira’s team at Shanghai Sipg in 2019, worked with him at Fenerbahçe and Corinthians, and was at FK Auda this year.
Adriano Teixeira: Teixeira’s journey began as a physical trainer at GD Serzedelo in 2014, followed by 7 years at FC Porto. He was an assistant coach and analyst at Al-Sadd in 2022 before joining Pereira at Al-Shabab in February.
Ricardo Silva: After retiring from football in 2016, Ricardo became a goalkeeper coach at SC Salgueiros and then spent 6 years at FC Porto. He joined Pereira’s staff at Al-Shabab earlier this year.
This is an experienced team, with strong ties to FC Porto, and I expect it to bring some stability as well as raising the standards at Wolves. This will be crucial in building morale and preventing any repeat of the obvious disharmony that occurred behind the scenes during previous tenures.
