The latest Wolves news as Joao Gomes signs a new 5 year contract.

Joao Gomes Commits to Wolves Until 2030

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that Joao Gomes has penned a new five-year contract, extending his stay at the club until 2030. There is an option for an additional 12 month extension and there is no release clause. Gomes has become a vital figure at Wolves since arriving in January 2023 from Flamengo, and his new deal demonstrates his commitment to the Old Gold.

A Rising Star in Wolverhampton

Since his dramatic Premier League debut, where he scored a late winner against Southampton, Gomes has not only established himself as a midfield powerhouse but also made history by becoming the youngest Brazilian to score in the league. Over the past two years, Gomes has earned 10 international caps with Brazil and continued to impress with his work rate, energy, and growing offensive contributions, including four goals this season.

Pereira’s Praise for Gomes

Head coach Vitor Pereira expressed his satisfaction with Gomes’ new deal, emphasising the player’s potential to help the club reach new heights. “Joao is a team player who always gives 100 per cent on and off the pitch,” Pereira said. “He has the physicality and technical skills to dominate midfield for 90 minutes. He’s young, humble, and has the potential to be a top player.”

Pereira also highlighted Gomes’ hunger and adaptability: “He embodies the spirit we need here at Wolverhampton—competing with confidence and determination every single match.”

Key Moments and Milestones

In addition to domestic success, Gomes has made an impact on the international stage, debuting for Brazil in a win over England at Wembley. His contributions at Wolves include seven goals to date, such as a brace against Tottenham Hotspur last season.

This contract extension not only solidifies Gomes’ place as a core member of Wolves’ squad but also reflects his loyalty and belief in the club’s future. His willingness to take on responsibilities, including donning the number eight shirt after Ruben Neves’ departure, has made him a fan favourite.

As Wolves continue their Premier League campaign, with Gomes at the heart of their midfield, expectations are high for the team and their Brazilian playmaker to push the club to greater success.
