Wolverhampton Wanderers Women's Proud Performance Against Brighton
Wolves Women got knocked out of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a 4-1 loss to WSL team Brighton & Hove Albion at New Bucks Head in front of a record crowd of 1812. Despite the score, Wolves put up a good fight against a higher division opponent and almost pushed the game into extra time.
The visitors took the lead towards the end of the first half when Katie Robinson scored from a Poppy Pattinson cross. Wolves managed to equalize through Beth Merrick’s penalty in the second half, but Emma Kullberg’s late hat-trick secured the win for Brighton.
Wolves had some good chances early on, with Merrick and Katie Johnson coming close, but it was Brighton who broke the deadlock just before half-time. The second half saw Wolves pushing for an equalizer, which they found through Merrick’s penalty.
Despite a late surge from Wolves, Brighton sealed the victory with Kullberg scoring twice more in extra time. The final score was Wolves 1-4 Brighton & Hove Albion.
