TYLER PRICE DISCUSSES Wolves fall 2-1 at Anfield after a familiar two-minute collapse.
Predictability
After that first goal it was very, very obvious the floodgates would open swiftly after and 90 seconds later it’s 2-0. After over half an hour of solid defending from the backline. It’s sloppy defending all around the board from Wolves that results in conceding twice, and it speaks volumes.
Striker position
I think I speak on behalf of plenty of Wolves fans with this statement. If there’s one striker out of Jorgen Strand Larsen and Tolu Arokodare to be placed in the starting eleven, it is Tolu. He won absolutely everything today, chesting down plenty of long balls and linking up well with Mateus Mane and being the whole reason we scored through Santi Bueno. He’s a huge target for set pieces and with Wolves struggles to score in the Premier League, Set pieces could be vital.
Midfield
There is no creativity in the midfield with two defensive midfielders in Joao and Andre – Don’t get me wrong, individually Andre and Joao are exceptional players and Joao’s work rate especially is very good. But if we’re going to go down fighting we need a more attacking edge in midfield. Is that a January predicament or a solution we currently have… It needs a player with flair like Fer Lopez to take charge of the midfield in driving us forward attempting to take on his man. Could be a case of playing
Fer
Andre Joao
Or similar with a new signing in the place of Fer.
Mateus Mane
An incredibly bright spark in his appearances this season, thought he was excellent today.
Absolutely has to start for me, electric outlet up top. Managed to get good shots away and show a lot of flair in his games played. Has to play.
Performance and United.
Any team going to Anfield knows it’s going to be incredibly difficult and to leave with a 2-1 defeat is respectable. Being labelled so far as the worst team in Premier League history travelling to Anfield and playing like we did is something to kick on from. Not nice knowing we were in a similar position at the Emirates and we collapsed at home to Brentford. For United, we need to see the same team or minimal changes. And Mane and Tolu nailed on to start.

To play devils advocate: so the first half was the first time Edwards has managed us against LFC and so the first half was going to be unknown, and after the half time we played better as he addressed the issues. Football is no longer “1tactic fits all” like it was in your day. It’s way more complex. Rob can’t do anything right because our fans are toxic. They call the players up and down and claim they are the worst we have had but expect rob to get wins? But our best games under him have been Arsenal, Villa and now LFC… what’s the common denominator here: we were away with our toxic brigade not there. I said when we appointed Rob that he needed to be given a free hit half season and time to rebuild. People point at a Luton team that sold their spine and had no reinvestment. But what’s worse is the growing section of fans that I think want us to lose so they can be right.
