KARL WHITEHOUSE GIVES HIS MATCH REPORT ON BOURNEMOUTH 0-0 WOLVES
I am writing this match report after seeing the game live at the Vitality stadium in Bournemouth.
The team news came in and Wolves were unchanged from the draw against Newcastle played on Sunday.
Wolves | Sa, Semedo (Ait-Nouri 59), Collins, Kilman, Jonny, Neves, Moutinho, Nunes (Podence 75), Neto, Guedes (Traore 75), Jimenez. Unused subs | Sarkic, Toti, Ronan, Dendoncker, Campbell, Hwang.
Bournemouth | Neto, Cook, Kelly, Mepham, Lerma, Solanke, Christie (Anthony 85), Smith, Tavernier, Billing (Moore 76), Zemura (Fredericks 69). Unused subs | Travers, Marcondes, Stacey, Lowe, Hill, Senesi.
FIRST HALF
The first half, Wolves were dominant with shots on goal, but with nobody there to connect and put the ball back into the net. There was nearly a goal when Moutinho put in a delicious cross towards Nunes who nodded by Neto only to go and clip off the crossbar, a great move by the team.
Neto was having a himself a good game despite been not being passed to by team mates when he was left unmarked by the Bournemouth defence or where he could have counter attacked. This is a concern – why they are not passing to him?
Neto was in the action again going forward and had a shot at goal himself which went wide. Then Wolves had another attack with Jimenez having a header saved by the goalkeeper Neto – not to be confused with Wolves Neto and tipped it over the bar.
There wasn’t many chances for Bournemouth in the first half of the game after the 9-0 defeat by Liverpool which cost the manager Scott Parker his job. The plan was to try and defend the game and not concede.
Then another counter attack by Wolves saw Neto try and setup Neves and we then saw Guedes who went and cut inside with his right foot but it went straight to the goalkeeper. This was so frustrating to watch seeing a team with the talent on the pitch and no goals to show in the first half.
Referee brought the half to the end which Wolves have majority of the play and should have had goals but nothing to reward the away supporters.

SECOND HALF
The second half started the same with Wolves dominating the game over . It was getting frustrating with chances which were clearcut and none of them came to any chance of note.
Wolves made a substitution taking off Semedo who had a decent game to be replaced Ait-Nouri trying to change the course of the game. It looked that the change had worked by getting him to link well with Neto but time will tell if this will work.
Wolves made a further two substitutions bringing on Traore and Podence. The fans had been chanting they wanted a sub and they wanted Adama. Bruno did finally react taking off Nunes and Guedes and replacing with Traore and Podence for the last 15 minutes of the game.
Making the change and adding an extra body in attack made a difference. Neto had a shot which went wide of the near post and Jimenez blocked a shot by Ait Nouri which from the angle I saw looked like could have gone in with a volley. This looked like this was going to be one of those nights.
Podence and Traore were causing problems for the Bournemouth defence There was nearly a goal for Jimenez he received a pass from Podence sending him clean through, one and one with the goalkeeper only to chip it over Neto and then shoot wide of the mark. Best chance of the game!
Podence had the next attempt, he was setup with a cross from Moutinho headed on by Jimenez only to be cleared off the line by the Bournemouth defender Kelly.
Then another attack by Wolves saw Podence and Jimenez linking well, Podence crossed to Jimenez only to see his header go wide and another chance go begging.
The game was stretched with Wolves on the attack. In added time there were more chances, Moutinho had a shot blocked and also Jimenez had a chance to try and win the game for Wolves but didn’t trouble the Bournemouth defence.
The referee blew the whistle for full time after 6 minutes of injury time with Wolves getting another draw. The fans were not happy at the end of the game and made their feelings known with booing and chanting.
This was a game that Wolves should have won but didn’t take their chances.
