Craig Hickey analyses Wolves performance against Chelsea check out his player ratings.

It was difficult to find many positives tonight, we had a good spell either side of half-time but ultimately, we came up very short against a side that were shaky after the equaliser.

Jose Sa 4

I felt he had a decent start to the game but personally he could have made it difficult for the scorers of all three goals by coming out more aggressively and make himself big, he didn’t come for the third, he came and hesitated. His distribution was solid but he lacked authority in his area.

Nelson Semedo  4

Started the game on the right side but after the first goal he swapped to the left to stop Madueke causing issues, he looked comfortable and used the ball well, perhaps he got caught out for the 2nd goal as the cross came from his side and was out jumped by Chalobah during the 3rd goal.

Matt Doherty  4

Doc was very quiet in the first 35 minutes, settled in to the game and showed that he can ghost in late to poach a goal with the equaliser. He seemed comfortable in the second half and held his own against the threat of Sancho. Always able to win the last tackle when exposed by Ait Nouri’s lack of quality to help in defence, kept Neto out of the game.

Santi Bueno  4

A very quiet Santi today, got turned a few times by Jackson but seemed to benefit from Agbadou next to him to help with defensive frailties on the break. Simple passing from Santi was the best part of his performance, there were no other real contributions in the game.

Emmanuel Agbadou  6 Man of the Match

This was his best game so far, looked assured on the ball, crisp passes, defensive awareness and the ability to win the ball when it was needed. Showed that he has the quality to progress in the team but I do think he would be better on the right. He helped keep Madueke quiet in the first half and limit his contributions in the 2nd. I think he was my Player of the Match for us.

Rayan Ait Nouri  4

We all know RAN has the ability to be unplayable but today for me he offered not very much. He was moved over to the right side after the first goal, Madueke was a constant threat to him and he got turned and run at too many times. He didn’t track or look for any runners in the 2nd goal, for me he was at fault for that. A game that showed his flaws.

Joao Gomes 6

In fairness to him, he was close to getting my Player of the match, ran tirelessly for the team, battled, moved the ball forward and tried to get us going in the game. I do think that he works well with Andre but we miss a player in front to create opportunities which means he has a lot of work to do.

Andre 4

Tried to make a difference today but he was out fought a lot today by the Chelsea midfield, lost his head for his booking and after that seemed to fade out of the game. Not a game that he will be pleased with as he has so much more than he showed today.

Pablo Sarabia 4

Pablo tried to make a difference in our attacks but he didn’t have much support so he had to go backwards, made some great runs but he wasn’t picked out by his team mates. Nothing more I can add really.

Matheus Cunha 4

This was probably one of his worst games, not sure if he is still trying to get fit but his touches, passing, shots and corners lacked quality. We expect such high standards from him and his running at defenders wasn’t there today.

Jorgen Strand Larsen 4

Jorgen had a terrible first 45 minutes for me, his touch and hold up play was woeful and he needed to improve, probably made a nuisance of himself for the equaliser. The second half improved a bit and he did force two saves from Sanchez but these were hopeful efforts rather than clearcut, I think the striker role is laying heavy on his shoulders now and he needs some service/help.

SubsTITUTIONS

Rodrigo Gomes 6
He was very good when he came on, full of energy and pace, always willing to find pockets of space to work in and two cutbacks nearly led to shots on goal for others. Tracked back and worked hard for the 20 minutes he played.

Jean Ricner Bellegarde 4
Did the simple things well, won some tackles and tried to move the play forwards but he needed to get further forward which was difficult as we got pinned back in the last 10 minutes.

Goncalo Guedes 4
Not a good cameo from him, lost the ball too much, didn’t control the ball and looked lackluster today, not the same player we saw before Christmas.

This was a game that we could have got a point from at half time but ultimately we conceded from poor marking in our box, the fact that the three teams below us are worse than us is our only positive. If we get out of this then we were extremely lucky. It has to be 7/10 minimum for every player from now until May.
