JAMES HALLETT LOOKS AT THE STRIKER OPTIONS FOR WOLVES
It’s clear to see that Wolves need a lethal striker quickly. With time running out in the transfer window, here are my 5 options for Wolves to pick up in the coming weeks.
1. Gonçalo Ramos
Gonçalo Ramos has all the attributes Wolves need in a striker. The 21 year old has 19 goals for Benfica and 14 in 18 for the Portuguese U21 side. This season he has a goal contribution every game and looks to be wanting a move abroad. Rumours have been speculating that £40 million would be enough to swoop in and steal the youngster. Maybe this is where the MGW money is heading?
2. Andre Silva
When I think of goal scoring forwards, unusually Andre Silva is one of the first names in my mind. The Portuguese striker has scored 107 in his 6 year career. Signing this man will guarantee goals. His current club has just resigned Timo Werner, potentially allowing the 26 year old to find another club. Certainly one to keep an eye out for.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
Now hear me out. There’s obviously a whirlwind of media attention around Cristiano Ronaldo but he does check every box. The all-time top scorer has 815 goals over his long-lasting career and brings them everywhere he goes. His agent is the one and only Jorge Mendes, who as everyone knows has huge links with Wolves. It looks like he wants to leave Manchester United, but this could be due to lack of Champions League football which Wolves also doesn’t have. It’s a long shot but could be worth enquiring about.
4. Evanilson
The first non-Portuguese player on this list is the Brazilian, Evanilson. The 22 year old has scored 28 goals for Porto in a 2 year period. He has already scored 2 and got an assist in the 3 games he has played in this year. Unfortunately, Porto have put a price of up to £70 million on this Brazilian wonderkid and have already supposably already rejected a £51 million bid from Man Utd earlier in the window. At this price it’s a no, but if Mendes can work his magic and reduce the fee, it could be a nice option.
5. Ivan Toney
The last player on this list is already Prem proven and he goes by Ivan Toney. Toney is off to a flying start this campaign with 2 goals and 2 assists to his name. Last year he was directly involved in 17 goals in the Premier league alone. Wolves have been linked with Toney since 2014, whilst at Northampton, but he failed his medical and Wolves called off the deal. Toney is exactly what Wolves need with him being a clinical poacher and airborne striker.
