Dave & Em's Premier League Predictions Week 8

Ready for another round of bold calls, friendly jabs, and a few spicy takes? Week 8 is here, and we’ve got every Premier League fixture covered with scorelines and reasons you can relate to. Expect a clear run-through of each match, a quick look back at last week. Drop your own picks in the comments, and let’s see who nails the most. This week’s theme: tight calls, home edges, and a few tasty draws.

Week 7 Results: A Tight Draw Between Hosts

Both hosts had a storming Week 7. Dave and Emma each scored 9 points, which in many weeks would be enough to win outright. It was a draw in the studio, and a strong one at that. They both called five outcomes correctly, then added exact-score bonuses to reach the shared total.

PREMIER LEAGUE PREDICTIONS MATCH WEEK 8

Premier League Week 8 Match Predictions

Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea

There was plenty of chat about Forest’s ownership and the chaos around the dugout. From Nuno’s departure to West Ham to the current boss feeling the heat, it feels touchy at the City Ground. Chelsea, fresh off a big win over Liverpool, look buoyant and sharper in both boxes. Forest’s home energy will help, but the hosts may find this one a bit much if Chelsea get on top early.

  • Emma: Forest 1 – Chelsea 2 Emma sees Chelsea building on momentum, and thinks the Blues could have more goals in them if they find space.
  • Dave: Forest 0 – Chelsea 3 Dave thinks the Forest boss is under pressure already and that Chelsea’s quality will tell.

Brighton vs Newcastle

The Bird Derby 🤣 lands on the south coast. Seagulls nick your chips, magpies go for shiny things, and both clubs can hurt you when they click. Neither dazzled against Wolves recently, but both can be tough to handle when they find rhythm and width. This one feels cagey.

  • Emma: Brighton 1 – Newcastle 1
  • Dave: Brighton 1 – Newcastle 1

Burnley vs Leeds

Two promoted sides trading punches in a fixture that should be full of energy. Burnley have been strong at Turf Moor, with a home record that went over a year unbeaten before Liverpool nicked that streak late on. The home edge is real for Burnley, but the visitors’ tempo could earn them a point.

  • Emma: Burnley 1 – Leeds 1
  • Dave: Burnley 1 – Leeds 1

Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth

Eagles vs Cherries, and both have started well. Palace at Selhurst Park are never easy to deal with. Atmosphere, structure, and those quick breaks can flip a game in a moment. Bournemouth are neat and tidy, and they’ve surprised more than a few, but can they cope with Palace’s home push?

  • Dave: Crystal Palace 2 – Bournemouth 1 Dave fancies Palace to nick it at home, with the hosts’ edge in both boxes.
  • Emma: Crystal Palace 2 – Bournemouth 2 Emma is on a draw streak, and sees goals both ways with neither side giving in.

Manchester City vs Everton

City are tuning up nicely. Everton look better than last season, but trips to the Etihad are unforgiving. There was talk about Jack Grealish missing due to parent-club rules, and either way, this is a steep climb for the Toffees. City should control the middle third and pile on the pressure.

  • Dave: Man City 3 – Everton 0
  • Emma: Man City 3 – Everton 0

Sunderland vs Wolves

It is the Black Cats versus the Wolf Pack, and the away end will be bouncing. Emma is going with heart over head this time, and she fancies Wolves to show the grit we have seen recently. The Stadium of Light will be fierce, and Sunderland are buzzing back in the top flight, but there is belief in this Wolves group.

Travel and fatigue are a factor after the international break. There is international break fatigue to watch, with long-haul miles for players like Gomes, Andre and Hwang out in South Korea. That could affect selection, so keep an eye on the starting XI. There was also a strong word on stadium rules. No power banks or vapes, and coins are donated to charity. That could be a headache for away fans on digital tickets whose phones might die. Not ideal, especially with long travel. Sensational Stan is on the trip, which adds a bit of charm to the day.

  • Emma: Sunderland 1 Wolves 2

  • Dave: Withheld until the match preview Emma is keeping her pick for the standalone preview.

Fulham vs Arsenal

It is another London derby, and Fulham need a response after defeats to Villa and Bournemouth, both away. Back at the Cottage, they will battle, but Arsenal have too much quality if they manage the tempo.

  • Dave: Fulham 1 – Arsenal 2
  • Emma: Fulham 1 – Arsenal 2

The hosts matched on four of the first seven games, which is rare for them. Great minds, and all that.

Sunday Fixtures Breakdown

Tottenham vs Aston Villa

This could be a belter. Emma sees Spurs as a different animal under Thomas Frank, and is backing home advantage to carry them over the line. Dave sees goals and a share of the spoils. Villa can hit you in moments, so even with Spurs’ control, this might swing late.

  • Dave: Tottenham 2 – Aston Villa 2
  • Emma: Tottenham 2 – Aston Villa 1

Liverpool vs Manchester United

It is always a feisty one. Liverpool had a wobble before the break, losing three on the bounce, which is very unlike them. They have had runs like this before though. Late goals have been a theme, both for and against. The break should help reset shape and energy. United tend to raise it in this rivalry, but Anfield can smother you when it matters.

  • Dave: Liverpool 2 – Man United 1 Dave expects a tight game, decided by a single moment of quality.
  • Emma: Liverpool 3 – Man United 1 Emma thinks Liverpool step up at home and win with something to spare.

West Ham vs Brentford

Nuno’s West Ham at home are hard to beat. Brentford keep proving people wrong, with strong team spirit and smart set pieces. We expected them to dip, but they keep grinding results.

  • Dave: West Ham 1 – Brentford 1
  • Emma: West Ham 1 – Brentford 1
