4 at the back was key to goals
The main thing we learned from the win against Fulham is that Wolves can play with four at the back. This allows us to use the pace and attacking options we have. I believe this is the way forward for Wolves. We have so many attacking options and abilities that we have shown in every game that we can score goals. However, we also need to be solid defensively. I think we learned that playing Mario (yes, he was at the back, but look at his ability on the ball) and Gomes with André allows Gomes to play further forward and contribute well, which he did twice with a goal and an assist.
Pace in attack
Another thing we learned today is that, while he may not have been magnificent, Rodrigo with Cunha gives us more pace. He takes players on and eases some of the burden off Cunha, even though Cunha likes that pressure. Sarabia, on the other hand, looks to control the ball and seeks that odd technical pass. Rodrigo has to start for me, but when Dawson or Bueno comes back, someone will need to be dropped to the bench.
Patience is key
I think the main takeaway for Wolves fans from this unbeaten run of four games is that patience is key. I have always believed we’ve faced a tough fixture list since the start of the season and it was unlikely to get results until the end of October or start of November. Fans needed to be patient. They should have looked at how Wolves were playing and felt optimistic that results would come. With the next five games being winnable, it gives us a chance to put a good run together. We should trust O’Neil; he has done a great job at Wolves during his time here and deserves praise. You can see the players are playing for him as well as for themselves.
