Vitor Pereira Ready for New Wolves Era as Season Opens Against Manchester City

Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira is looking forward to kicking off the new season at Molineux this Saturday night against Manchester City. After a summer filled with changes and fresh faces in the squad, Pereira’s message is clear: he is excited, optimistic, and eager to build his stamp on the team.

Summer Rebuilding and a Fresh Identity

Pereira spoke about the challenges and excitement of rebuilding during the off-season. He highlighted the need to continually reinvent and create, saying, “This is the best league in the world, and it’s a pleasure to be here. Every season brings new challenges, and we have to rebuild our identity.”

The Wolves coach embraced the team’s transition, with several new players joining and possibly more to come. While he admits the squad is still a work in progress, Pereira enjoys the creative process: “It’s the magic I need in my life – creating, rebuilding, and helping the team grow. Each season gives me the butterflies and passion to push forward.”

Trust in the Squad and Player Connections

Reflecting on the contributions of key players like Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Nelson Semedo, and Pablo Sarabia, Pereira was quick to thank them for their roles. But now, he says, the focus is on building new connections across the group. “Football is about connecting people. It takes time to build links inside the team, and between the team and the supporters, but that’s our work.”

Integrating New Signings

New arrivals will need time to settle, says Pereira, especially those coming from foreign leagues. Speaking about Arias, he noted, “He came from a different league and needs to adapt to the pace and intensity of the Premier League. The most important thing is for him to connect with his teammates and staff, to understand how we play. He has a lot of quality and will be important for us.”

Pereira is also optimistic about Lopez, describing him as a positive player with the right mentality. “He’s a talented player who will surprise people. Building friendships and a strong mindset is as important as tactics and technique.”

Expectations for Strand Larsen

Pereira believes that Strand Larsen will take a step forward this season, after a year of gaining experience in England. “He knows the league and his teammates better now. With his new maturity and past experiences, he’s ready to score more goals. We’re working to strengthen the connection between him and the rest of the team.”

Facing Manchester City: The Ultimate Test

Opening the campaign against Manchester City brings a tough challenge, but Pereira is focused on his own team. “Every match in this league is a top match. We must focus on being the best version of ourselves and playing our own football,” he said.

He praised City manager Pep Guardiola for his tactics and ability to innovate, saying, “Guardiola is possibly the best in the world and always brings something new to football. I feel the same about wanting to discover and create every season.”

As Wolves’ new season begins, Pereira’s belief in his players and passion for team-building sets a positive tone. Fans will be hoping his vision leads to strong performances, starting this Saturday under the Molineux lights.
