DAVE DISCUSSES WOLVES UPCOMING GAME AGAINST ARSENAL WITH JOHNNY COCHRANE FROM THE ARSENAL OPINION PODCAST
Dave welcomed Johnny Cochrane on from The Arsenal Opinion Podcast to talk about the upcoming game Wolves v Arsenal.
When asked about the title race and whether Arteta was correct to say Arsenal learnt a lot from last season Johny said it remains to be seen whether Arsenal have turned that corner. They’re coming off the back of a disappointing result against Villa. Villa didn’t dominate the game but Arsenal missed chances. Johnny thinks they look different this year and have beaten the other title contenders on opposition turf, winning at the Etihad is an almost impossible task and this one showed Arsenal at our best.
Johnny believes the Wolves game is D Day and Arsenal absolutely have to win it to stay in the title race. The teams usual strengths are waning a little bit. Declan Rice is looking leggy and fatigue is catching up with some of the team. They will need a big game from Rice and Saka and of course and of soured Odegaard who has been in great form. Arsenal could be vulnerable if they don’t assert themselves early on in the game.
When asked about Wolves, Johnny thinks Gary O’Neil is establishing himself as a good Premier League manager something he didn’t do at Bournemouth. He also talked about how he was impressed with Matheus Cunha at the reverse fixture at the Emirates and that he would like Arsenal to look at him in the Summer window as he could fit well into the Arsenal system. Johnny acknowledge Pedro Neto’s top potential but that his injury record is concerning and the Air-Nouri looks a good player.
Johnny thinks to be successful then can leave no holds barred and must’t be conservative an go for the win from the off. He also believes that their Champions League match prior to the game could be important to the mood in the Arsenal camp and affect the game. He acknowledged that Wolves don’t sit back and defend and will try to play football. Wolves don’t have much to play for but they don’t have much to loses either.
