ANDREW BENNETT SHARES how each Wolves player performed in today’s match against Brentford.

The season ends as a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford in a season which could have finished 0/10. Vitor Pereira arrived to offer hope into the future (pending Fosun investment – which is maybe like hoping to live on the Moon) and pints!

Jose Sa (off 91)- 6

A classic Jose Sa performance over the years, good shot stopper making a few neat saves. Couldn’t do anything to prevent the goal so no blame there and a total inability to provide any confidence to his team mates with kicking.

Nelson Semedo – 7

Solid performance from the Wolves skipper who looks likely to leave this summer, nearly had the perfect exit with a brilliant strike down to the keepers left but it was well saved. Continuously pushed forward during the first half but tired as the second went on, never looking in real danger.

Matt Doherty (off 87) – 7

If only Doherty still had an extra yard of pace he would be totally commanding right centre back in Victor’s system. Put in a good performance cleaned up well and nearly looked Doherty of years gone by as he tried to skip past Brentford defenders but unfortunately couldn’t beat his man on the byline. Was a threat flicking on near post corners but his efforts didn’t come to anything.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 6.5

As has become expected since January a commanding performance. A few mistakes on the ball but nothing of note, a pity the season couldn’t end on a home clean sheet.

Toti – 6.5

Very similar performance to Agbadou had a few moments on the ball you were asking yourself why, why, why! Defensively did his job well but rarely tested.

Ait Nouri (off 65) – 6

Partially at fault for the goal giving the ball away however was surrounded by the opposing players, and couldn’t get out of a mess. Didn’t get forward as much as the Molineux faithful have become so used to in particular this season.

Joao Gomes – 6.5

Wolves fans player of the season put in a passionate performance showing great touches bringing the team forward on multiple occasions but too often gave the ball away or tried one trick too many which often broke passages of play. I think Joao was trying too hard to push the side forward and needed to relax like his normal self. A simple MUST keep for Wolves this summer and hopefully his new contract eliminates any potential suitors.

Andre – 7

As always was everywhere a moment of absolute joy during the second half as he managed to wriggle free of 4 opponents keep the ball and win the hosts a set play. Can’t wait to see Andre after a full pre season and a year in the league under his belt!

matheus Cunha – 6

Arguably as at fault as Ait Nouri for the goal passing back when the defender was surrounded. Tried too hard to score shooting when passes were the better option or shooting far too often to not test the Brentford keeper. Cunha will be remembered as a magical player who provided many memorable days but unfortunately as the season has petered out so have his performances in old gold.

Gonçalo Guedes (off 65) – 4

What does Guedes offer?

A question Wolves fans I think have asked ever since he joined the club. Another game passes him by where realistically he just doesn’t look like scoring, assisting or really helping at all in the forward play. Did work hard and must have covered a fair few KM but missed an utter sitter in front of the south back after a great team move and cross from Munetsi.

MarshalL Munetsi (off 87)- 8 (Man of the Match)

A man with a smile as big as his running distance and deserves all the plaudits as it is clear to see how the team can perform better especially when he is with Larsen. Never stops trying not necessarily technically fantastic as illustrated as he charged into a Brentford central defender when pressing and was so late, but got Wolves final goal of the campaign with a goal of the season contender absolutely hammering into the top corner after a knock down. Those playing the Molinuex half time game take note!

The Subs:

Rodrigo Gomes (65 on for Ait Nouri) – 6.5

Energy guaranteed!  Was up and down his flank and multiple times was open and didn’t receive the ball in promising positions looked dangerous but couldn’t create anything of note.

Jorgen Strand Larsen (65 on for Guedes) – 7

Offered something different up front the team with and without Larsen is very noticeable and flicked on brilliantly for an assist for the equaliser.

Bellegarde and Bueno (87 on for Munetsi and Doherty) – N/A

Not on the pitch long enough to make an impact and can’t remember anything of note in his performance.

King (90+1 on for Sa) – N/A

On for the last few moments but was called upon as Brentford slung in a long throw and shortly after had a corner, commanded his defenders well and handled it. Well deserved moments for a big character in the squad.

Another season done and dusted, some great moments and in the main a forgettable year onwards and upwards for points and pints!
