Wolves Transfer Deadline Day Deals: 3rd February 2025

It’s that time of year again when clubs scramble to make last-minute moves before the transfer window slams shut. Here’s the latest on Wolves deadline day activity ahead off 11pm when the UK window closes. Wolves manager Vitor Pereira was intent on reshaping his squad and additions were much needed for the for the relegation battle.

Mario Lemina Leaves for Galatasaray

Midfielder Mario Lemina’s exit to Galatasaray is set to be one of the significant moves of the day. Finalised for £2.5 million, the transfer made headlines as Lemina had been out of favour under Pereira, struggling for game time. Mario Lemina is due to be out of contract in the Summer and his departure seemed inevitable, with reports suggesting Lemina had been eager to make a fresh start.

Interestingly, Wolves had initially set an asking price of £5 million, but Galatasaray negotiated it down. It’s worth noting that Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab had shown interest earlier, but Wolves stood firm on their valuation. Now, with the Turkish Super Lig’s transfer window extending until 11th February, Lemina has more time to settle into his new club.

Surprise Swap Deal with Leicester City

In an intriguing twist, Wolves and Leicester City are reportedly in advanced talks over a swap deal involving defenders Craig Dawson and Conor Coady. Dawson, who has struggled to hold a first-team spot, could be heading to the King Power Stadium. Meanwhile, Coady, once a Wolves captain and fan favourite, is eyeing a return to Molineux.

While discussions remain ongoing, the deal seems to work for all parties. Coady’s experience and long-standing connection with Wolves could bolster the backline, while Dawson’s dependable performances make him a valuable acquisition for Leicester as they fight to escape the relegation zone.

Marshall Munetsi: Wolves Look to Ligue 1

Another exciting development from deadline day is Wolves’ pursuit of Stade de Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi. According to reports, Wolves have tabled a significant offer for the Zimbabwe international, with negotiations in full swing.

Munetsi, known for his defensive strength and ability to carry the ball forward, would be a perfect addition to Pereira’s midfield. However, with financial details under wraps, it’s unclear whether a deal will be reached before the clock runs out.

Originally Wolves were originally interested in 23 year old Volodymyr Brazhko who is a defensive midfielder currently playing for Dynamo Kyiv, but their President stated they were unwilling to let him depart in their window and Wolves moved on to new target Munetsi.

Incoming Talent: Nasser Djiga

Adding to the excitement, Wolves agreed terms with Red Star Belgrade defender Nasser Djiga. With a medical scheduled on deadline day, this move appears imminent. Djiga, a young and energetic defender, is expected to add depth and competition to the squad. Pereira’s emphasis on strengthening the team’s defensive options is evident, and Djiga could prove to be a long-term asset.

Other Potential Deals

Aside from confirmed transfers,. Time will tell whether any late surprises emerge before the day is done.

The Turkish transfer window doesn’t close until 11th February so there could still be outgoings confirmed after today’s UK  11pm deadline.

Additionally, Jørgen Strand Larsen’s loan move is set to become permanent after the striker met his appearance clause.

Wolves’ Deadline Day Strategy

Pereira’s tactical approach to transfers this season suggests a focus on making Wolves more defensively solid while also adding versatility in midfield. With the club sitting mid-table, these moves could be the difference between a smooth campaign finish or a nervy climb up the table.

Closing Thoughts

As the Premier League transfer window closes, Wolves have undoubtedly made headlines. From Lemina’s move to Galatasaray to the potential swap deal with Leicester and the hunt for Munetsi, there’s been no shortage of activity.

Fans will be eager to see how these late signings impact the rest of the season. Have Wolves done enough to escape relegation? Only time will tell.
