Wolves academy duo Nigel Lonwijk and Arthur Nasta secure loan moves for the 2025/26 season, joining Luton Town and Hornchurch respectively.

A duo of Wolves academy players have secured loan moves away from Compton ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Nigel Lonwijk spent last season in League One with Huddersfield Town and now returns to the same division with Luton Town. The Hatters were relegated on the final day of the championship season and will be looking for a swift return to England’s second division. The club have found themselves in a freefall that Wolves fans will be all too familiar with, having dropped from Premier League to League One in just two years back in 2014. That season the Old Gold broke the points total to secure immediate promotion and a league title in the process. Dutch defender Lonwijk will now be hoping to aid Luton in their bid to get back to where they were before whilst winning some silverware to boot. He also signed a new one-year contract at Wolves before his departure, though the move will be made permanent if a specific set of conditions are met during the loan spell, but these conditions have not been made clear. Lonwijk won League One back in 2022/23 with Plymouth Argyle when they also finished runners-up in the EFL Trophy. He reunites with manager Matt Bloomfield at Kenilworth Road, who also coached the Dutchman during the second half of the 2023/24 season at Wycombe Wanderers. Last season his campaign with the Terriers was cut short due to a hamstring injury sustained in March.

Further down the English football pyramid, National League South side Hornchurch confirmed the loan signing of goalkeeper Arthur Nasta for the duration of the season. Nasta signed for Wolves last summer and made his first start in a pre-season U21 friendly away at Hednesford Town but failed to break into the team during the season, falling behind Lewys Benjamin, Stan Amos and Josh Gracey in the pecking order. Nasta has previous experience in senior football at a much lower level, having played a full season with Larkhall Athletic in the Southern League Division One South before moving to Wolverhampton. The shotstopper was also on a sports scholarship at Millfield during his time at Larkhall, receiving coaching from ex-professionals including former Stevenage, Preston North End and Walsall man Scott Laird, who is the lead coach at the school. Last season was Hornchurch’s first in the National League South following promotion from the Isthmian League Premier Division and the Urchins finished in an impressive 9th place.

The best of luck to both players at their new sides, and I look forward to seeing the progress both make away from Wolverhampton.
