Wolves Fall 4-2 to Bournemouth: Who Shone and Who Struggled?

CRAIG HICKEY SHARES HIS PLAYER RATINGS FOR WOLVES V BOURNEMOUTH

Jose Sa 5.5

-A tough start, 3 goals conceded in 20 minutes. Why he didn’t clear his lines or get a shout for the penalty against him is criminal. His distribution was solid but he did struggle finding the short passes quickly at times. Not entirely his fault for the 3rd penalty but he was sold a crap ball by Dawson. Apart from picking the ball out the net 4 times and remonstrating with fans in the South Bank, he didn’t have much to do.

Nelson Semedo 6

Exposed down the wing too much in the first half, most of the time we got lucky on his side, if I can be positive, he was solid in the 2nd half but never really offered much in attack.

Rayan Ait Nouri 5

Grew into the game, took people on and did some defensive work when needed. Switched to right in the 2nd half but offered little to our attacking play.

Toti 5.5

Terrible start, no reason to go to ground for the penalty and probably got caught out on the left for the 2nd. Gained more confidence as the game grew on and went on one lung bursting run after half time replaced after 63 mins, strange decision for me.

Mario Lemina 5

Caught out today in my opinion, maybe last week was a fluke, today at times he was slow and balls over the top made him look ordinary. Last week was a one off as a centre back for me, leave that to other players as he is better in midfield.

Joao Gomes 5.5

Hustled and bustled but didn’t grab hold of the game at all. This was a game that passed him by at times, some of his work was aggressive but the ball tended to get away from him. I’ll forgive him for one game as he’s been brilliant at times.

Andre 6

A shaky start, probably the better of our midfielders in the tackle and breaking up play. He seemed to get frustrated with the lack of movement when he had the ball. Taken off on 82 mins.

Rodrigo Gomes 6

Always willing to take players on, looked strong and composed in possession. Worked well with RAN in trying to get down the wing. Subbed at HT

Matheus Cunha 5.5

Not up to his usual high standards, tried to make things happen but the lack of space that Bournemouth gave him was a factor. One well struck free kick was just over.

Jean Ricner Bellegarde 🅰️  5

A lovely cross for our goal but he couldn’t get the room to run at the defence or create more in the box. He needed to help Semedo more in my opinion. Switched to left HT, no real impact after that and taken off on 63 mins.

Jorgen Strand Larsen ⚽ x2 7.5 Man of the Match

He didn’t get much service today, took his two goals brilliantly, the 2nd was pure strength and aggression as he smashed it into the net. Always putting himself about in tight situations where the defenders kept dragging him down. I think he was let down by others when attacking and I felt for him today to be on the losing side.

Craig Dawson 5

On at half time, I felt he gave us some stability until his uncharacteristic blind back pass that led to the 3rd penalty. It seemed like the teams malaise had rubbed off on him.

Carlos Forbes 5

His lightning pace is what we needed but he was given the ball enough to run at the defenders.

Goncalo Guedes – 🅰️  6.5

He offered a lot more in attack and his clever runs were our only bright points in the 2nd half. Another assist in our second goal with a tenacious run and pass into Larsen. How long until he starts, he’s been a different player this season.

Hwang – Not on too long to impact the game. N/A

Overall, the team gets a 5.5 from me, it was painful to watch to say the least, I wish I’d stayed at home and painted my skirting boards!!!
