Wolves fans share their thoughts on Wolves FA Cup win against BLACKBURN ROVERS

GEORGE LAKIN

Belief, excitement, hope, optimism. Amazing what a cup run can do.

Can’t downplay that performance either. Comfortably beating Championship teams away from home in the cup is not for everyone..

Honestly, give me one reason we can’t get to Wembley this year..

Vitor Pereira clearly respects the competition and went strong again today. Only making changes where expected.

I love how he’s made victories against Bristol and Blackburn look routine. They’re not. Plymouth winning is proof enough of that. He’s just got these players confident enough to demonstrate the quality they have- and it’s a cut above anything in the Champ.

I don’t see it as an arbitrary choice between survival or FA Cup run. Winning breeds winning. You never get tired of it and it never makes you tired. It’s like exercise, the more you do it the more energised you feel. It’s a habit, a mentality. Pereira gets that, absolutely no doubt about it.

One more favourable draw and another QF beckons. I’d back these boys under VP not to choke this time around. Which could really put some demons to bed. Birthing a genuine new era.

Genuinely love this gaffer. Just two months ago I couldn’t even fathom feeling any semblance of joy this season. Now it feels like we could really be at the beginning of something special- provided we play our cards right in the summer. A proper journey again.

Imagine how different the whole complexion of our season could end up being if he can sure-up safety in the coming weeks and get us to Wembley. There’s a genuine opportunity opening up now.

All eyes on tomorrow 7.10pm. Home draw would be lovely.

In Vitor we trust.

CRAIG HICKEY

Into the next round with a clean sheet, we didn’t look comfortable in the first 20 mins but after the goals it was never really in doubt.

There were some great performances, in particular Agbadou, Toti and Joao Gomes, all were in good form today.

We restricted them to half chances but better sides may have been more clinical. We created some good opportunities and could have won by more than 2-0, Sarabia and Munetsi getting chances, the later having at least 3. He looks like a good player and his breaks forward were excellent.

It was nice to see Danny Batth get a good reception at the end, coming over to show his appreciation.

It wasn’t a strong performance but the job has been done and we go into the hat for the fifth round draw, it gets harder from here. Let’s hope we can take our form into the league.

BLACKPOOL WOLF

Weird feeling for me today not sure if it’s because I’m more worried and invested in the league or if it’s because it’s the early rounds of the F.A Cup but I just wasn’t getting excited for this game.

It was a very mature performance from the lads, Vitor Pereira can take a lot of positives out of the performance. Cunha was voted man of the match but I would not have given it, I thought until his goal his touch was very poor and he seemed off it a little. That being said when you have as much quality as he does he’s always a danger and can grow into the game.

My Man of the Match would have been Agbadou after watching a shaky defence all year I feel we are finally starting to look better in defence and I think Agbadou’s partnership with Toti is looking strong. Both are winning a lot of balls in the air and both are not scared to put a foot in and I think both look more comfortable in a back 3 when they play together.

It was good to see the energy of Rodrigo Gomes again, giving this guy minutes is definitely going to benefit Wolves in the long run as he develops under Pereira.

Joao Gomes was his usual self with another good performance. Probably because of the lack of strength of Blackburn it was good to see Joao get more forward in this game and grab a goal, this season he’s been brilliant but he has been a lot deeper than last season.

I have to mention Marshall Munetsi he only flew in on Thursday so he doesn’t really know anyone but I thought he slotted in for the 35 mins he played and got himself into good positions and probably should have scored. I’m not sure if he will score many goals for us this season but if he keeps getting into those kind of positions I’m sure he will score 1 or 2 very important goals. The more Vitor Pereira works with him the more he will he get an understanding of the way we play and what his role will be. I think he could be a very important back up for Joao or Andre and will definitely be important from the bench. Not sure if he can break the Andre and Joao partnership just yet.

I was a little disappointed Lima wasn’t on the bench. I was also a little disappointed Djiga and Forbs didn’t get some minutes.

When I look at the defence now I think Agbadou and Toti are a definite start Doherty holds the right side depending on how good Djiga is but Buneo has probably dropped to 5th choice.

KARL WHITEHOUSE

We started the game with a good high press and plenty of possession, causing Blackburn early problems as we looked for weaknesses in their backline.

We were nearly undone by a set-piece movement, only for an offside flag to save us from the embarrassment of going behind. We didnt’ find our rhythm, but it would come in time.

Rodrigo Gomes did well to get back and stop a counterattack when everyone was forward from a corner. Good defending by him.

We took control of the game with two goals from João Gomes, one with a toe poke and the other from Matheus Cunha after being set up by Nelson Semedo. We seized the initiative

We started the second half with two changes, one due to injury and the other to avoid a red card issue. Well done, Vitor; you did the right thing there. However, we were camped in our own half since the restart, with Blackburn having their moments in the game. Their finishing was way off the mark.

Our defence is showing promise again, with Agbadou in the middle displaying quality and good positioning. He keeps them in check, watching the ball every time, with clearances alongside Toti. They are forming a good partnership for the rest of the season, and this must continue.

We missed chances to put the game to bed, but it was a pleasing performance. We created space and moved with speed. Our defence kept Blackburn from getting close to our goal, with Johnstone making saves from the right positions.

Munetsi, introduced in the second half, looks like a strong player for our club. He finds spaces and creates chances and can cause issues in upcoming league games.

Player of the match goes to Emmanuel Agbadou. What a signing he has been! Playing in the centre of the three, he didn’t put a foot wrong all game, reading everything perfectly. My rating for him is 8.
