WOLVES FANS GIVE THEIR OPINIONs ON THE 1-1 DRAW AGAINST EVERTON

LOUIE LEFEVRE

Absolutely gutted not to have won. Feels like two points lost rather than one gained. I wish we would have gambled a few more men forward. Edwards made a good call with Larsen but Hwang and Tchatchoua shouldn’t have played as long as they did. There were too many sideways passes when we should have been more offensive and direct. Our position is so dire we can’t go into games happy to take a point.

A draw helps the mentality of the club. Losing would have been gutting for fans and players alike so at least we can keep the positivity. Mane with a well-taken finish and good to see Larsen involved. His introduction meant Everton couldn’t double up on Mane anymore, which brought him into the game. Unbeaten in 2026 isn’t bad!

Shrewsbury next, and surely it’s time to try some fringe players. Lima or Lembikisa have to start at RWB and it would be ideal to see some of the younger lads in attack. Mane is just 1 of 5 U21 forwards having a terrific season so far. Chirewa, Gonzalez, Holman and Edozie have also been firing on all cylinders. Holman looks set to move to Swindon, but we’ll never know how good they might be if we never give them the chance. Tomorrow’s side to play AS Monaco B will be a good indicator of what Saturday’s XI will look like.

Walking away from that one as a Wolves fan, you’re torn – was it a point gained or two dropped? And honestly, it depends which way you look at it.

On the face of it, coming from behind away from home when you’re bottom of the league has to be seen as a positive. We went a goal down early, Everton had control for long spells, and a few weeks ago our heads would’ve dropped. This time they didn’t. There’s a resilience about this side now under Rob Edwards that simply wasn’t there before, and that alone makes this feel like a point earned.

Mateus Mané is the biggest reason for that feeling. Eighteen years old, fearless, calm when it mattered most. The way he took that chance, after latching onto Strand Larsen’s pass and slipping it past Pickford, was pure quality. Two goals in two games, and suddenly we’ve got a young lad giving us belief when we desperately need it.

But then the game flipped on its head, and that’s where the frustration creeps in. Two red cards for Everton, nine men, and an eternity of added time. In that moment, it stopped feeling like survival and started feeling like an opportunity. We pushed, we sensed it, and when Hugo Bueno let fly from distance, I was already half celebrating. Pickford’s save was outrageous – and it summed up our season that it didn’t drop for us.

So was it a point gained? Yes, because this Wolves side looks tougher, braver, and far more competitive than the one that went winless for months. But was it two points missed? Probably. Against nine men, with momentum on our side, those are the games you have to win if you’re going to pull off a miracle escape.

In the end, it feels like both. Pride in the performance, belief in the direction we’re heading – and that nagging feeling that we were inches away from something!

Same team as against West Ham. Could we get the same result?

For most of the first half, we gave Everton far too much respect. We let them come at us and offered very little in return.

Arias was not as sharp as he was last game, and we did not create any real chances. At half-time, Andre replaced Arias. Then, almost straight away, Krejci picked up a nasty injury. After a long spell of treatment, he was able to continue. Even so, we still looked too passive.

Gradually, we worked our way into the game. In the 69th minute, Larsen played a great pass to Mane. Mane’s first touch was superb, and he fired into the bottom corner.

A world-class goal from a world-class player.

After that, the match turned hectic. In the 79th minute, there was a foul in the middle of the pitch and no one seemed sure what happened. The referee went to the monitor and sent Keane off. The crowd went wild. Replays showed he had pulled Tolu by the hair.

We pushed for a winner. Hugo Bueno cut inside and hit a brilliant shot, but Pickford matched it with an excellent save.

Then came another moment of poor discipline. Grealish won a foul, but instead of restarting play, he applauded the referee and was shown a red card.

Everton were down to nine men. Could we make it count in the final nine minutes?

Lima came on for Krejci. We kept pressing, but we had to settle for a draw.

Man of the Match: Mane, for the goal
Performance rating: 5 (first half), 8 (second half), 6.5 overall

Was this a chance missed?

EMMA AKA THE PRODUCER

Last night’s 1-1 draw with Everton felt like a point earned, but also one that could have been more if we’d shown any real urgency before the break. The first half was flat from Wolves. We moved the ball too slowly, took too many safe touches, and let Everton set their shape. They looked sharper, they won second balls, and Keane’s early goal was a fair reward for how much more switched on they were.

After half-time, it finally started to look like us. The tempo picked up, the passing got braver, and we played higher up the pitch. It really only kicked into gear after Mateus Mane’s goal. Calm finish, big personality, and the kind of spark that lifted everyone around him. From there, we asked more questions and Everton started to look like a team hanging on.

And on the red card, I’m not having the complaints. Anyone moaning about Keane being sent off for the hair pull has clearly never had their hair yanked. It hurts, it’s nasty, and it’s totally deliberate. You cannot do that in a game and act surprised when the ref goes red. It’s a red card all day, every day.

In the end, Everton could only defend with only nine men and we didn’t quite find the final pass to make the pressure count. Still, given how poor we were in the first half, it says something that we finished the match feeling like we left points out there. Pickford made a world class save to deny Hugo Bueno a goal which could have sealed the victory. If we start games with the intensity we showed after Mane’s goal, these draws turn into wins.

SCOTT DRAME

Delighted, but also slightly disappointed. It really should have been three points, but sadly we will have to settle for one.

Rob Edwards got a lot right today, but it still was not enough, we played some of our best football and could not find the winner.

Man of the match has to be Sa and Mane, Sa kept us in the game when we needed him most, and Mane is playing with real confidence right now.

Overall I would give it a 7/10, we should have had three, but one will do.
