Wolves fans share their thoughts following Wolves home defeat to Fulham in the Premier League.

GEORGE LAKIN

Really disappointing result.

Looked more and more tired and out of ideas as the game wore on.

Damage was done in giving ourselves a mountain to climb not once but twice. Can’t be that switched off from the kick off, and then yet again from the restart second half. A real strength under Pereira has been our ability to learn quickly from our mistakes, not tonight.

All that momentum built in the first half was lost in an instant. Have to manage games better- got exactly what we deserved in that respect. Naive.

Felt the substitutions, particularly Sarabia, could’ve come sooner. The way the game was shaping up Strand Larsen was never going to be able to impact it much. Was always going to need someone who could pick the lock as Fulham retreated deeper and deeper.

In fairness we lacked options from the bench really and Fulham were stronger after their changes, the game had gone in that respect. We let them get in poll position.

Think we saw the downside tonight of this very physical squad we’ve built. It will likely be enough to see us safe but with Cunha off it we saw how limited we can look from a technical point of view. Games like tonight are when you need that bit of magic most.

Perhaps a reality check. The job isn’t done yet and games aren’t won on paper. While this looks a more favourable run of games, tonight was a cold hard reminder there can be no room for complacency.

One game too many perhaps but we need to put this behind us quickly. All eyes back on Ipswich and Leicester on a night many were expecting some daylight to be put between us and them.

We never make it easy do we?

Vitor Pereira’s quote before the game. “I expect the best of us tonight”

Well the entire team let him down.
60 seconds on the clock 1-0 Fulham.
Yes we got back into the game playing attacking football. 1-1 after 18 minutes. Brilliant finish from Joao Gomes.
Bueno repeated his reckless tackle from Saturday and got a stupid yellow card.

Second half even worse start than the first.
We resorted to playing square and back, inviting Fulham to press. Doherty booted the ball upfield and Adama picked up the ball played a superb pass inside Bueno who had got himself the wrong side of Munez. Munez just lifted it over Sa, 2-1 inside two minutes.

It was a dismal performance after the excellent show against Bournemouth.
I would hope that back in the dressing room Vitor makes his feelings known. But he must take some of the blame for his tactics and substitutions.

Next up Bournemouth in the Cup. On tonight’s performance we are in for another defeat.

Another big game tonight under the lights at Molineux could we make Saturdays massive win count?

Vitor played the same team but one minute into the game and Fulham scored.Sessegnon broke down the left and scored . There was a hint of offside but VAR said no and it was hard to tell as they didn’t draw any lines.

We didn’t let it get us down and went straight on the counter attack. Gomes nearly scored after 15 minutes but then found the back of the net in the 18th minute. We were back all square.

We continued to have most of the play but didn’t create any clear cut chances. Cunha was being fouled nearly every time he got the ball but we couldn’t make any free kicks count, so the half finished all square. Surely if we played the same second half we could make it count.

How wrong was I . Yet again one minute into the 2nd half Fulham went ahead again after we had a session of square passes then lost the ball  followed by poor defensive work.

After that the game became totally boring sideways backwards any way but forwards. Strand Larsen came in for Bellegarde who although he had made one or two decent passes was nowhere near as effective as his last few performances

Sarabia came on for Andre and Doyle for Bueno and we went four at the back. We went forward a bit more than we had been doing but still a lot of sideways backwards play.

The game just ended with a very disappointing loss. So disappointing after gaining the win on Saturday and having chance to go 8 points clear. Now we have to hope Manchester United can do us a favour tomorrow night against Ipswich.
Man of the match was hard to find one but I will give it to Matt Doherty who played well in an otherwise poor defensive display.

What could be said about this performance?

After the joy of winning against Bournemouth, we followed it with a dreadful display from the start. A mistake in the first minute gave Fulham too much space, allowing an unmarked player to shoot and score.

After conceding the opening goal, we fought back into the game with plenty of possession and ball retention in our attacking play. We managed to get back into the game with a goal from Joao Gomes, which was better play overall.

However, while we played reasonably well, Fulham outperformed us. They used the same formation as us, which raised questions about whether we continue to struggle against teams with identical setups, much like in the past. At times in the first half, we were repeatedly exposed on the left-hand side. Our defending was questionable, and our finishing lacked the clinical edge needed to trouble their goalkeeper.

Vitor clearly had issues in this game, and he needed to find solutions to address the ongoing problems.

The second half started poorly yet again, as we conceded an early goal. Once more, our defence lacked discipline, leaving us vulnerable and needing urgent fixes. While we kept attacking Fulham and created chances, our finishing and overall creativity in the second half were abysmal. The only player who consistently tried was Cunha, although even he showed signs of frustration at times.

We were caught out by numerous Fulham attacks, and it seemed likely they would score again. This performance was a missed opportunity to extend our lead over the bottom three to eight points. It was especially frustrating to lose at home to a team that had never beaten us in the Premier League at Molineux, marking their first win there in 40 years.

Wolves will need to address these issues quickly. If these problems persist, we may face another difficult period, slipping back toward the bottom three—a situation we desperately need to avoid.
