After the great win at Leicester, could we do the same against United?
At a very foggy Molineux, we made just one change: Rayan Ait Nouri got his place back after suspension, with Rodrigo Gomes making way for him.
I think United started sharper than us in the first fifteen minutes, with both teams trying to impress their new managers. We gradually came into the game and were strong defensively. We weren’t offering much going forward, but we kept pressing and had a couple of chances. As the half went on, our defence, midfield, and attack were all closer together, making it harder for them to find a way through.
The half finished level, and no substitutes were made at the start of the second half. Within about ten minutes of the half starting, Bruno Fernandes was sent off. Could we make the extra man count?
A few minutes later, we had a corner. Everyone lined up in the box, and the unthinkable happened for Wolves: Cunha scored directly from the corner, making it 1-0. United objected, but the goal stood. Come on, lads!
Doyle then came on for Gomes, as he was on a yellow, and he and Andre had been magnificent in midfield. Hwang also came on for Guedes. For the last part of the half, we were backs to the wall and at times made it hard for ourselves. We brought Dawson on into the back three, Doherty moved to wing-back, and Bellegarde came on for Semedo.
United still pressed for eight minutes of extra time, but we held strong. Finally, Cunha broke away, put Hwang through, and he made it 2-0. The last couple of minutes were tense, but we now had a gap of two goals.
Finally, the whistle went, and we had done it. What a difference Vitor has made. We are playing as a team, not as individuals. Everyone knows their job, and there are no square pegs.
Yet again, there were a few candidates for man of the match. Andre Gomes was magnificent, and Sa had a good game, but my man of the match has to be Cunha. He can always make something happen.
Performance rating: 8.
Come on, lads, bring on Spurs!

I felt sorry for Rodrigo Gomes being replaced by Ait-Nouri, who was back after suspension. But I was willing to be proved wrong. Wolves allowed United to dictate the first half. I was concerned that Wolves were giving United too much control.
It was clear that Vitor has made Wolves a tougher team. They are more competitive and organised. In two games, Wolves have kept two clean sheets. Sa made a world-class save in the first half to keep United out. Apart from that, United didn’t really create any clear chances.
Up stepped Matheus Cunha, taking one of his corners. Wolves now use Arsenal’s style at set pieces. They pressured Onana just enough for the corner to go directly into the far post. The goal stood, and Wolves were in front.
Fernandes got himself booked for the second time and was sent off. He went over the top of the ball, catching the Wolves player high on the boot.
The second half was a long 45 minutes, but Wolves had another goal disallowed, this time for offside. They played possession football for long spells, while United pressed for an equaliser. In the 98th minute, Cunha and Hwang broke away. With a sideways pass, Hwang put the ball in Onana’s goal to make it 2-0 in the final minute.
Three more points, and they are out of the bottom three. Bring on Spurs at the weekend. Wolves have every chance of a result in London.
A happy Wolves fan. Well done, Vitor and his team.

I can’t believe this team is the same one that Gary O’Neil couldn’t get to the dizzy heights we are seeing now. Vitor Pereira and his team have unlocked our potential, we are purring at the moment. Every single player was excellent tonight, Cunha will take the plaudits though and I’m so pleased for Hwang who has shown he still has a killer instinct. The defence was brilliant and you can see them growing into a solid unit, two clean sheets in a row, 5 goals scored. It’s like the Nuno era again and I can sense something golden is happening here. We made United work hard today and when they went down to 10 men, we finally took advantage and punished them. We are finally seeing the quality we have, adding to the squad will only make us stronger. On we go to Spurs and they are another team for the taking…..Wolves are back!!

If anyone is still on the fence about Vitor Pereira, get off it immediately.
Even before the red card Vitor had Amorim’s number. Tactically out-thought him.
I think we’ve got a special manager here. Looks a figure who naturally commands respect… how? Because he knows exactly what he’s doing. We’ve gone from incompetency to exemplary in a week.
Plays a system that suits and is pushing players to capacity. Clearly a motivator. Clearly a leader.
Not to mention that we are now seeing that the quality in this squad is actually insane, and it’s blossoming.
Cunha is outright one of the best players in the Premier League.. and for me, he’s gone up a notch under Pereira. Even his star quality, his charisma, his celebrations are electric, and seem elevated.
We are playing with our chests puffed out again, with full blooded belief, and Cunha is our talismanic figure, our maestro. This is when we’re at our best.
Consecutive clean sheets is no coincidence either. Disciplined and committed when defending set pieces. Thought that was down to the players on the pitch? Nope. It’s staggering how much the performance of any team comes down to the manager, Wolves are stone cold proof that it does.
So, out the relegation zone we go, and with Vitor at wheel I just can’t see us looking back.
This guy gets it.
I think we beat Spurs next.

WOW. Excellence all around, Vitor Pereira’s tricky Wolves! A Molinuex absolutely rocking at full time. I’m going to go home now and enjoy that winning feeling. Quick praise to the defence, Vitors set up that back line so so well and this change in manager is absolutely what we needed. The defending of those set pieces was incredible and the goal scored from the corner was just magic. Matheus Cunha is simply magic, UP THE WOLVES

Wolves started the game with good tempo and high energy, forcing early mistakes from Man Utd.
In an evenly matched contest both sides struggled to create clear chances.
Both teams cancel each other out in the first half, but we find space in the final third, causing issues for Man Utd’s backline. .
This was an organised performance from the team, pressing the United defence. Andre and Joao Gomes gave us a great display in midfield. The manager’s tactics and formation worked well for a solid first half.
The second half started with us having more players on the field than Man Utd. We needed to capitalise on this to score the opening goal and take our chances. We started to control the game against ten men.
What can we say about Matheus Cunha? We’ve seen all types of goals from him this season, but scoring from a corner kick? Wow! We haven’t seen a Wolves player do this before.
Since we scored, we’ve defended well, keeping out United’s attacks with our defenders clearing the ball at the right moments.
Vitor Pereira makes substitutions at the right times to change the game’s outcome.
Cunha’s player-of-the-match performance tonight shows his quality. He lays the ball off to Hwang, who seals the game late in injury time, making Wolves fans happy with another three points and another clean sheet.
The team stuck to the game plan, doing exactly what the manager wanted. They showed good identity, possession, and scored goals. This is a great start for this group. We need to keep this momentum as tough games are ahead.

What a game this was! Vitor Pereira is a much better manager compared to O’Neil. His tactics worked well after Bruno was sent off. Cunha, José Sá, and Toti were in the running for man of the match.
