BLACKPOOL WOLF SHARES THE LATEST NEWS ON WOLVES LOANEES

After a busy transfer window in and out, we take a closer look at Wolverhampton Wanderers players currently out on loan.

Joe Hodge – Huddersfield Town

On a personal level, Joe Hodge couldn’t have got off to a better start. Just seven minutes after coming off the bench for his Huddersfield Town debut, Hodge found himself unmarked eight yards out. He slotted the ball into the bottom left corner against Rotherham United, putting ten men Town 1-0 up. Unfortunately, Huddersfield couldn’t hold on and ended up losing the game 2-1. Joe Hodge received an average player rating of 7 from local Huddersfield news outlets.

Nigel Lonwijk – Huddersfield Town

Nigel Lonwijk also made his debut for Huddersfield Town this weekend and the Dutchman was selected in the starting 11 as a left centre back. Lonwijk got off to a shaky start which included an early yellow card but as the game went on he grew into the game and was involved in a number of Huddersfield Town attacks and looked pretty solid with his defending duties. Local Huddersfield Town news outlets gave Nigel Lonwijk an average player rating of 7, considering Huddersfield lost 2-1 to Rotherham United a player rating of 7 is a pretty good debut.

Ki-Jana Hoever – AJ Auxerre

Ki-Jana Hoever’s loan spell at Auxerre hasn’t started as he would have liked. Filling in at an unusual left-back position for the second time this season, Hoever was again on the losing side as his Auxerre team lost 3-1 to Le Havre. To make matters worse, the Dutch 22-year-old, currently on loan from Wolves for the 24/25 season, received a second yellow card for a late challenge on Le Havre winger Rassoul Ndiaye. Ki-Jana Hoever will now miss Auxerre’s home match against Monaco after the international break.

Nathan Fraser – Zulte Waregem

Nathan Fraser is slowly accumulating important minutes in senior football at Belgian club Zulte Waregem. This weekend, Fraser made his second appearance of the season with six minutes to go in Zulte Waregem’s 1-0 victory over bottom side Lokeren-Temse, extending his game time to 16 minutes of professional football this season.

George Hardy – Highgate FC

Seventeen-year-old Wolves goalkeeper George Hardy has been sent out on loan to Highgate FC less than five months after signing from League One club Rotherham United to gain valuable first-team football. Hardy played the full 90 minutes in a 3-2 defeat to Northwich Victoria this weekend.

James Storer – Darlaston Town (1874) FC

Another Wolves youth goalkeeper has been sent out on loan this season. Nineteen-year-old James Storer played the full 90 minutes in Darlaston Town’s First Round Qualifying of this season’s Emirates F.A. Cup. Storer kept a clean sheet as Darlaston Town held Southern League Premier Central side Harborough Town away from home. This performance earned them a replay on Wednesday night, where James Storer is expected to be back between the sticks.

Tawanda Chirewa – Derby County

Twenty-year-old Zimbabwean international Tawanda Chirewa was an unused substitute for Derby’s 3-0 victory over Bristol City in the Championship this week.

Marvin Marvellous Kaleta – Motherwell

Nineteen-year-old Marvin Kaleta is still waiting for his senior debut for Scottish Premier League side Motherwell FC. The ex-Manchester City defender was an unused substitute in Motherwell’s 2-1 victory away to St Johnstone this weekend.

Tyler Roberts – AFC Fylde

Wolves’ young winger has dropped a level this season after making 10 appearances for Doncaster Rovers last season. He was expected to be in the squad this weekend just two days after his loan move to AFC Fylde. However, the game against Southend United was postponed due to a last-minute train cancellation from London Euston, which prevented the Southend United players and supporters from getting to the North West on time.

Hugo Bueno – Feyenoord

Another cancellation this week for a player out on loan from Wolves. This time it was Holland, as Feyenoord’s game with Ajax was postponed due to police protests. The lack of police presence meant the safety of players, staff and supporters was too much of a risk for the game to go ahead.

Fabio Silva – Las Palmas

Fabio Silva’s deadline day loan move was too soon for him to be announced in Las Palmas 2-0 defeat to Deportivo

Chiquinho – RCD Mallorca

Another deadline day loan was too soon for Chiquinho to be involved in Mallorca’s 1-0 victory against Leganes

Chem Campbell – Reading

Chem Campbell also made a deadline loan switch to League One Reading the switch came too soon for Campbell to be involved in Reading’s 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

Why are our unders going on loan to such lowly clubs, no offence meant. Surely when we sell these players or release them the income won’t cover the outlay of putting them through the academy or the fees paid to recruit them from other clubs. How is the academy ever supposed to be self supporting financially?
