NICK PARKES GIVES HIS OPIONS ON PLAYER PERFORMANCE
JOSE SA - 7
Fairly quiet day with only a few saves to make. Saved Ward-Prouse’s free kick well.
JONNY OTTO - 7.5
Second half saw a vast improvement from Jonny in an attacking sense, was back to his best with his progressive play and was unlucky with his shot.
MAX KILMAN - 8
Max was too quick into a few tackles in the first half but commanding and calculated overall. Made a few key blocks and the partnership with Collins continues in great form.
NATHAN COLLINS - 8
Second half of the formidable centre back partnership and another great performance. Strong in defence and calm under pressure.
RAYAN AÏT-NOURI - 8
Rayan showed great attacking desire in the first half in particular. Really helped put Wolves on the front foot. Linked up well with Podence and was a menace to the Saints defence. Great performance
JOAO MOUTINHO - 7
A real workman’s performance today, incredible energy levels for his years. Looked leggy in the second half and was too deep during the period of pressure.
RUBEN NEVES - 7
Really impressed with his defensive side again today, really helps out the back 4 under sustained pressure. Would have liked to see more going forward. Poor pass in the first half almost cost Wolves a goal.
MATHEUS NUNES - 7.5
Really came into his own in the second half as he pressed up the pitch more. Linked up well with Jonny and Neto at times. Has real potential to dictate how wolves attack and great ball across to set up Podence’s goal.
PEDRO NETO - 7
A much improved performance from Bournemouth midweek, looked more like his old self when looking to attack and beat defenders. Short on confidence at the moment but should come back if he continues to do what he does best.
DANIEL PODENCE - 8.5 MAN OF THE MATCH
The focal point to our attack today and linked up play really well, especially with Ait-Nouri in the first half. Great positioning for the goal, albeit slightly fortuitous with the finish. Wolves look more dangerous with him playing and fully deserved to be on the winning team today!
SAŠA KALAJDŽIĆ - 6.5
Definitely brought something different to our attack when he was on the pitch. Picked up several good positions in the box. His attitude after getting hit in the mouth was fantastic; got up, cleaned himself off and got on with it. Hopefully his injury isn’t too bad as he will improve the team when he plays.
SUBS
Guedes -7 came on as a half time sub for the injured Sasa and found himself in two very good positions to score early on in the second half. Looked more menacing today and similar to Neto, if he can contribute in the coming games, I’m sure we’ll see a great attacking player.
Hwang -6 was great to hear the South bank drowned out the boos when they sang his song. Didn’t have much involvement today but his attitude and work rate was incredible, particularly after a very difficult week.
Adama 6- similar to Hwang in regards to involvement but happy to see him not constantly losing the ball when Wolves are under pressure, as was Adama of the past.
