quote

JEFF SHI

“He works very hard and is very humble. He might be the humblest manager I have ever worked with and one of the most hard-working coaches I’ve ever met. His strengths are around his tactics and his chemistry with the players.

“Of course, he talks more with Matt Hobbs, but I talk with him also, and it’s very easy to speak to him, to understand him, because he’s quite straightforward. He respects our views and listens to me very carefully to understand what I want to say. Then he describes himself to me very clearly and we are very effective.

Conclusion from O’Neil

Gary O’Neil has spoken passionately about his journey with Wolves, highlighting his deep connection with the club. He often describes his first year with Wolves as a “special place,” where challenges transformed into triumphs. Moving forward, O’Neil is all about growth and unity. He aspires to build on the positive momentum, striving to forge stronger ties between the club, players, and fans.

In his own words, O’Neil has acknowledged the scepticism that once surrounded his appointment due to his inexperience. However, his resolve has only grown stronger. He’s not just chasing victories on the pitch; he’s chasing an era of sustained success and happiness for fans and the community. With the support of a passionate fanbase, O’Neil’s future with Wolves appears promising and bright.

quote

GARY O'NEIL

“How much of a challenge it was at the start makes it feel much sweeter now. I understood the doubt in a young and inexperienced manager, who hadn’t done too much before. Results didn’t start off fantastically well and we had to work unbelievably hard to win people over. There’s the amount of help the team needed, because they were in a tough spot. They’d lost their manager and a load of experienced players. That challenge and seeing where we managed to get it to last season had a special feeling about it.

“The connection we managed to get between the team on the pitch and the guys in the stadium was incredible, with some of those fantastic results we had away from home, as home. That was the main thing for me, the connection between team and fans and I’m hoping to improve that again and see if we can take that on.”

Conclusion

Gary O’Neil’s commitment to Wolves until 2028 is a testament to his impact and potential to carve an exciting future for the club. His dynamic leadership has already transformed the team into a formidable force, as evidenced by last season’s success on multiple fronts.
