WOLVES TRANSFER ROUND UP – FORBS, O’SHEA, AHMEDHODZIC & MORE

We take a look at the latest Wolves rumours in the transfer market. It’s been reported that Wolves have only £20m to spend unless more fringe players are sold. Here’s the latest gossip…

Carlos Forbs

Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on Ajax’s Carlos Forbs. Voetbal International reports Forbs is open to a Premier League move before the transfer window closes. While Ajax hasn’t got a firm offer from Wolves yet, one is expected soon. Forbs wants to return to England, despite Ajax boss Farioli wanting to develop him further. Wolves are offering a much higher salary than Ajax, and Forbs is drawn to the club’s Portuguese players. Personal terms should be easy to agree on. The main concern is Ajax’s transfer fee demand; they want more than the €14m they paid Man City for him last summer.

Dara O’Shea

Wolves are eyeing a surprise move for Burnley’s Dara O’Shea, blocking his expected £8 million transfer to Brentford. The Republic of Ireland player, with 61 Premier League appearances, could leave Burnley following their drop to the Championship. Wolves need a replacement for Maximilian Kilman, who joined West Ham for £40 million. With limited funds, O’Shea’s price suits their budget. Former West Brom captain O’Shea made 107 appearances for them, which might stir local rivalries. West Brom stands to gain £1.6 million from a sell-on clause if this deal happens.

Anel Ahmedhodzic

Wolves are eyeing Sheffield United’s Anel Ahmedhodzic, aiming to boost their defence before the summer window closes. The 25-year-old centre-back is seen as a potential replacement for Max Kilman. Ahmedhodzic, a regular starter for the Blades and often wears the captains armband. He’s a Bosnia and Herzegovina international with 24 caps and a contract at Bramall Lane until June 2026.

Bastien Meupiyou

Wolves’ €6M Bid for Meupiyou was rejected by Nantes. Wolves’ offer for 18-year-old France U18 player Bastien Meupiyou got turned down by Nantes. Meupiyou, mostly seen with Nantes’ youth team, debuted last season against Marseille. Wolves offered €5m plus €1m in add-ons, but Nantes refused. Meupiyou has a deal in principle with Wolves, but they have no agreement with the club.

Aaron Ramsdale

Wolves want to take Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale on loan for a season, with a chance to buy him in 2025. Ramsdale, 26, lost his spot to David Raya and is keen on more playtime. Despite limited appearances, he made England’s Euro 2024 team. After a £24m move from Sheffield United in 2021, he’s eager for first-team action. Jose Sa has been Wolves’ top choice keeper since 2021.

Yoane Wissa

Wolves have set their sights on Brentford’s Yoane Wissa to replace Pedro Neto, who moved to Chelsea. Despite the big sale, budget constraints might limit Wolves’ actions before the window closes on 30 August. Manager Gary O’Neil rates him highly. Last season, Wissa made 30 starts in 36 matches, scoring 12 goals and assisting three times, alongside two international goals. His contract runs until June 2026. He usually plays on the left wing but can also operate centrally or on the right. Brentford have said that they see him as a valuable part of their squad and won’t be selling.

FABIO SILVA

In September 2020, Silva joined Wolves for a record £35m but didn’t meet expectations. He’s scored five goals and made six assists in 72 games. After several loans, he spent last season’s second half with Rangers, scoring six in 25 matches. Valencia, Espanyol, Wolfsburg and Genoa are the four clubs who have shown the strongest interest in Silva also Werder Bremen and real Betis.  Wolves are ready to sell him for €20m (£17.1m), despite taking a financial loss.

Daniel Podence

Al-Shabab’s eyeing Wolves forward Daniel Podence. No offer yet for the 28-year-old, but he might leave before the window closes. Wolves are calm, open to him staying after selling Pedro Neto for £54m. However, £10m might see him sold. Podence joined Wolves from Olympiakos in January 2020, scored 16 goals in 106 matches, and was on loan last season, netting 15 in 45 games.

Pablo Sarabia

Turkish reports suggest Besiktas are near signing Wolverhampton’s Pablo Sarabia. The team aims to strengthen their squad before the transfer window shuts. Turkiye Gazetesi claims Besiktas have agreed on personal terms with Sarabia, but contract details and salary remain undisclosed. They still need to finalise the transfer fee with Wolves, who might feel pressured to sell as Sarabia has under a year left on his contract. Wolves risk losing him for free next summer, with other clubs able to negotiate from January. Last season, Sarabia played 36 matches for Wolves, scoring four goals.
