BLACKPOOL WOLF & LOUIE LEFEVRE BRING YOU ALL THE LATEST NEWS ON WOLVES LOANEES
A new week and things are starting to take shape as a cult hero is born: Nigel Van Dijk. Another clean sheet for one of our star performers. The first win of the season turns into back-to-back victories. Champions League football means more games for some players on the fringe of game time. New positions and a first league start against the current champions.
Chem Campbell – Reading – EFL League One
Two games for Campbell this week. Reading played midweek, visiting Exeter on Tuesday in League One. Campbell started in the 2-1 victory for his side but was substituted in the 60th minute. Reading then hosted Bristol Rovers on Saturday, but Campbell did not start again, appearing as a 64th-minute substitute as the Royals secured a 1-0 win. A successful week for Campbell and co. as they gained six points to move into sixth place.
Lucas Kibrya – Wolverhampton Casuals – Midlands Football League Premier Division
Wolverhampton Casuals had only one game this week: a Tuesday night match away to Stafford Town in the first round of the Staffordshire Senior Cup. Kibrya was in goal, but his side fell to a penalty shootout defeat after the match finished 1-1 in normal time, despite the Casuals taking the lead. Kibrya must be hoping that Tuesday night’s Midland Football League cup game with Sutton United does not end in a draw. Kibrya was also an unused substitute for the Wolves U18s on Saturday.
James Storer – Darlaston Town (1874) FC – Northern Premier League
Darlaston Town also played midweek, heading away to Lye Town in the Northern Premier League Midland division. Storer was in net and kept a clean sheet as his side won comfortably 3-0, continuing Darlaston’s strong league campaign. Unfortunately, top-of-the-league Corby visited the Paycare Stadium on Saturday and spoiled the party. Storer played the full 90 minutes as Corby won 4-1, though manager Dean Gill claimed there was still plenty to learn from the performance. Darlaston are 4th in the NPL Midland division.
Tyler Roberts – AFC Fylde – National League
Kevin Phillips got his first win as AFC Fylde manager on Wednesday night when he guided his team to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Boston United. Roberts played the full 90 minutes on the left wing as the new boss looked to favour the loanee. Like Storer, Fylde were quickly brought back to earth with a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Altrincham over the weekend. Roberts played the full game again and was one of the better players in a dismal showing. Some fans of the 20th-placed National League side are already calling for Phillips’ head.
Nigel Lonwijk – Huddersfield Town FC – EFL League One
Two games and two clean sheets this week as Lonwijk also celebrated his birthday on Sunday. The Dutch defender played 180 minutes this week, starting with a 0-0 draw and a yellow card against Wrexham before a 2-0 win over Exeter City on Saturday. Reaction to Lonwijk has been overwhelmingly positive, earning the nickname “Nigel Van Dijk” on social media. The name may or may not stick, but it has been a fantastic season so far for Nigel. Huddersfield are now 5th in League One, a place above Chem Campbell at Reading.
Joe Hodge – Huddersfield Town FC – EFL League One
Joe Hodge is ruled out for two months with a shoulder injury.
Tawanda Chirewa – Derby County – EFL Championship
Chirewa is ruled out for an estimated two months with a quad injury.
George Hardy – Highgate United FC – Midlands Football League Premier Division
George Hardy had no fixture this week.
Hugo Bueno – Feyenoord – Eredivisie
Hugo Bueno is enjoying his time in the Netherlands. The 22-year-old Spanish left-back played 88 minutes on Wednesday night in Feyenoord’s 3-1 away victory against Benfica in the Champions League. Feyenoord moved up to 16th in the Champions League table out of 36 teams with two wins and one defeat in three games. Feyenoord and Bueno were back in action on Sunday in the Eredivisie, this time away to second-placed Utrecht. Feyenoord handed Utrecht their first league defeat of the season with a comfortable 2-0 victory. Bueno played 78 minutes of this game and managed to grab another assist. This brought Hugo Bueno’s assists to three in five league games and helped maintain Feyenoord’s unbeaten start to the league, as they sit in fourth place with five wins and four draws in their first nine games.
Ki-Jana Hoever – Auxerre – Ligue 1
Auxerre now have the same points gap from third-placed Marseille as they do from bottom side Montpellier in their first season back in the top flight. Ki-Jana Hoever played the whole game on Sunday as Auxerre secured a massive point away against Lyon in a 2-2 draw. Playing as wing-back in a back five, Hoever has started seven of Auxerre’s nine league games, missing one through suspension.
Nathan Fraser – Zulte Waregem – Belgian First Division B
Zulte Waregem were knocked off the top spot this weekend after being held to a 2-2 draw by second-from-bottom club Francs Borains on Saturday. Once again, Fraser was an unused substitute. Nathan Fraser has played only 19 minutes of football in Belgium this season across eight games and has only played three minutes in the last four games. Wolves will surely assess this loan, as he may be better suited for a spell lower down in the English football league.
Marvin Marvellous Kaleta – Motherwell – Scottish Premiership
Marvin Kaleta has been used as a substitute in Motherwell’s last four games, clearly impressing manager Stuart Kettlewell, who gave Kaleta his first league start this Sunday against champions and league leaders Celtic. Kaleta played 69 minutes and was rated as Motherwell’s joint highest performer in their 3-0 defeat at home to Celtic.
Dexter Lembikisa – Yverdon Sports – Swiss Super League
Dexter Lembikisa got off to a poor start in his debut for Yverdon Sports just over a month ago, being substituted after 33 minutes. He paid the price and didn’t even kick a ball in Yverdon’s last three games. However, he must be doing something right in training, as he was given a starting role this weekend when Yverdon Sports scored an injury-time winner in a 3-2 away victory against Luzern. Lembikisa played 70 minutes and, having experienced playing left-back and right-midfield, played as a central midfielder for the first time on Saturday evening.
Chiquinho – RCD Mallorca – La Liga
RCD Mallorca are in action tonight at home to seventh-placed Athletic Club.
Fabio Silva – Las Palmas – La Liga
Fabio Silva scored in Las Palmas’ first league victory of the season, a 3-2 away win against bottom club Valencia last Monday. Silva’s start to life in Spain has been frustrating, with the striker missing some golden opportunities. However, the latest international break seems to have filled Fabio Silva with confidence. He once again played a vital part in Las Palmas’ second victory of the season, a 1-0 home win against Girona on Saturday, grabbing a crucial assist. It has been a big week for Las Palmas, picking up the full six points after failing to win in their first nine games. Fabio Silva has now scored four and assisted one in his last six games for club and country (Under 21s).
