As the international break kicks off, Wolverhampton Wanderers will see many of their players represent their respective countries. From South America to Africa and Europe, Wolves retain a strong presence on the global football stage. Here’s a detailed look at the players heading out and their international commitments.

Brazil

Matheus Cunha, despite his suspension from recent Wolves fixtures, has been called up to Brazil’s squad. Brazil faces crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina. Cunha’s creativity and attacking prowess will be pivotal as the Seleção look to climb the qualification table.

Joining Cunha in the Brazil squad is midfielder Andre. Known for his control in the middle of the park, Andre is a regular in the national team. The fixtures include a clash with Colombia in Brasília followed by a trip to Buenos Aires to take on Argentina.

Portugal

Portugal has called up Wolves Captain Nelson Semedo for their Euro 2026 qualifiers. Semedo’s surging runs and defensive stability make him an asset on the international stage as Portugal looks to maintain their strong position in the group.

Goalkeeper Jose Sa also returns to the Portuguese squad, but is down the pecking order behind Diogo Costa and Rui Silva.

Rodrigo Gomes, Carlos Forbs and Fabio Silva have all been selected for Portugal U21s who face England U21s on Monday 24th March at West Bromwich Albion’s ground.

Republic of Ireland

Veteran defender Matt Doherty continues to represent Ireland in their UEFA Nations League relegation play offs. Doherty’s experience and leadership will be vital as Ireland faces tough matches that could determine their fate.

Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Agbadou will be joining his national team for World Cup Qualifiers this March. Agbadou’s commanding presence in defence has been key for Wolves and is now set for international duty as the Elephants refine their strategies ahead of upcoming competitions.

Algeria

Zimbabwe

Marshall Munetsi has been selected for the Zimbabwe squad who have World Cup Qualifiers. It was during his stint with the Pirates in 2018 that he made his debut for the national team, where he now boasts 23 caps. Tawanda Chirewa has also been selected for the squad.

Santiago Bueno will join the Uruguay squad for their fixtures during this break in the World Cup Qualifiers

New signing Nasser Djiga has been called up to Burkina Faso. Djiga debuted for the Burkina Faso national team in a 5–0 friendly loss to Kosovo on 24 March 2022

Norway

Norway were set to include Jorgen Strand Larsen, but he has unfortunately pulled out of their squad due to a broken hand. This break will allow Larsen to recover fully before returning to action for Wolves.
