WOLVES FANS SHARE THEIR THOUGHTS ON WOLVES PERFORMANCE IN THE DEFEAT TO BRIGHTON

TYLER PRICE

Really poor performance, I tried to pick out a man of the match worthy mention but I am really struggling. Most likely choice Andre, played until he couldn’t move and that deserves credit.

Had a proper end of season feeling to it today and it was frustrating. Cunha was embarrassing and we missed Larsen’s clinical edge with him and Jean Ricner Bellegarde benched due to injury and when he was subbed on he received no service because we were extremely lacklustre in both defensive and offensive positions.

In a more positive light it was nice to see Mane get his debut and I’d like another cameo before the season ends.

Oh well, up the Wolves and onwards and upwards for next season 🤞🐺

Second half was like watching paint dry. In truth we look tired. Brighton just shut the game down.

We’ve seen us do the exact same to many a side recently, but today was the first time for while that we’ve seen a proper job done tactically on Vitor Pereira.

Can have no excuses really, Brighton were the better side and were better set up from about 10-15 minutes onwards.

After going ahead they managed the game and it panned out exactly as they wanted it to, we had no answer, no way to shift the tide.

Vitor tried with the 4 subs in one, but it was too much too soon in retrospect. Changing almost half the side at once always stands a good chance of going horribly wrong. And if anything we looked even more disjointed/incoherent after that.

Not one that will last long in the memory.

This game was doomed before it began. Vitor had won the Manager of the Month, kiss of death for the next game.  Secondly we played Brighton, like Palace our bogey side.

How do Brighton play, always with a high press!  So how did Wolves start playing, sideways and back, all the way to Sa.

Sa after a very good April couldn’t do anything right today. His distribution was poor. You wouldn’t have thought the back three had played together before. They kept missing challenges, getting caught out of position, just a poor performance collectively.

Our two wingback, Semedo and Ait-Nouri. Well all through April, Ait-Nouri had the ball on a piece of string. Today he tried to dribble through the left side of Brighton on his own. But he lost the ball every time.
Semedo wasn’t able to overlap at all today. He had a nightmare.

Andre and Gomes normally a rock parternership. Today Brighton bossed them. Admittedly they did like a number of Brighton players get away with repeated fouls that didn’t get bookings for!

Munetsi had a dire game today unable to utilise his strengths or his stamina. He found himself as the most forward attacker and sadly it’s not his game.

Finally Cunha and Guedes. Both skillful players but Guedes was easily policed in his false nine position and he didn’t make the best of his chances.

Then we come to the player number ten Matheus Cunha. Yes he’s our top scorer this season but today was one of his poorest games. He’s proved he’s not a team player. It was the Cunha show! His corners were dreadful today. He tried a thirty yard shot that hadn’t got a hope of going in. Finally he was playing far to deep.
Vitor tried to inject a change with four substitutions at the same time but sadly it didn’t produce a goal.

Brighton got a second goal on 85 minutes and went home gleefully with three points.
I hope the dressing room was a soul searching place after the game with Vitor’s comments ringing in their ears.

Wolves didn’t look like winning the game within five minutes of kick off. They made Brightons job easier by collectively putting on a display which I would score between 3.5 and 4.

I praised the sides performances all through April. But today there wasn’t anything to praise. I feel for the 30000 supporters in the ground minus of course the joyful Brighton fans who would have a fabulous journey home to the south coast.

Next up Crystal Palace away. On today’s performance another defeat.

A disgruntled fan!

PAM WELLS

From the start Brighton played the high line. Guedes had a couple of chances which were wasted but overall we were second best to the ball.

In the 22nd minute Brighton scored but VAR ruled it offside. Just a few minutes later they won a penalty after a poor tackle by Cunha. I don’t know why he was so deep.

They just kept coming at us and I think we were grateful to go in only one down at half time. No changes at the start of the 2nd half and Cunha had a great shot cleared by the goalkeeper. After that Vitor made subs. Larssn coming  on for a very poor Guedes Sarabia for Cunha Rodrigo Gomes for Doherty and Bellegarde for João Gomes. We looked a little bit sharper for about 10 minutes but they were soon back doing all the pressing.

We didn’t do much at all after that and they scored their 2nd in the 80th minute and that’s how the game finished.

Hard to find a man of the match in what was a poor team performance but I will give it to Rayan Ait Nouri.

Performance rating 5.
I hope we can get back to the level we have been playing for our last 2 games.

Vitor watched a Wolves team today that didn’t meet the standard of play we’ve seen in recent weeks. Maybe it was due to fatigue,

Wolves struggled against Brighton’s high press and had trouble playing out from the back—something that’s cost us in previous games as well. This led to us conceding a goal from a penalty and falling behind once again.

Today’s performance was below what Wolves fans expect, especially after our unbeaten run. We needed to be more clinical in front of goal, but our finishing let us down. Brighton seemed to want it more, and while we showed some intensity in the second half after Vitor’s four substitutions, we still couldn’t find the net.

Brighton sealed their win late on, and once again, we struggled against a team that’s been a problem for us at home.

Vitor now needs to lift the group and get Wolves back to his standards for the final two games. We must improve our finishing and test the opposition keeper more. Today, our performance rating was 3.5 out of 10, though it could’ve been even lower. The standout was Ait Nouri, who worked hard across the pitch and always looked to create chances or take shots on goal.

Let’s keep the faith, Wolves fans. We’re in this together for the rest of the season, no matter what happens.
