Wolves player ratings vs Spurs by Andrew Bennett

Sam Johnstone – 7

A second impressive performance in a week from Johnstone, did what was required of him, in the first half made a fantastic save to deny Kudus from point blank range. Was commanding on crosses coming when he saw an opportunity and punching away.

Hugo Bueno – 6

Solid performance from Bueno who was up against Spurs most lively attacking threat in Kudus. Did a good job without any notable moments.

Ladislav Krejci – 7

After coming into the side Krejci is showing leadership in a team which is currently suffering. He was always shouting instructions to his team, especially on defensive set plays and makes defending look simple.

Santi Bueno – 8 (Man of the Match)

Got the goal which put Wolves ahead being in the right place at the right time as the ball dropped to him from a Wolves corner. Defended well throughout the game and is building a good partnership with Krejci.

Matt Doherty – 6 (off half time for Agbadou)

His last touch of the game was a strike to hit the crossbar. Picked up a yellow card in the first half when exposed by Spurs pace, rightfully subbed off to prevent the potential from getting a red card.

Andre – 7

Was absolutely everywhere, had a great battle with the Tottenham midfield often turning out on top to regain possession for Wolves. Showed why he has a starting place in this team, potentially better when has two other midfielders closer as he had today with Gomes and Munetsi.

JOAO Gomes – 6 (off 64 for Bellegarde)

Similar to Doherty, Joao was subbed off to eliminate the risk of a red card. Retained possession well and progressed the side up the pitch.

HeE Chan Hwang – 5 (off half time for Tchatchoua)

Did a good out of possession job, however as a left winger probably not the priority. He struggled to get into the game and when he did had wayward passes and shots, a poor performance.

Marshall Munetsi – 6

Did his job well getting close to both Larsen and the midfield, if being very critical potentially could do better in preventing the move which saw Spurs score as he was beaten very easily but no one could predict what was to happen seconds later.

JHON Arias – 7 (off 92 for Toti)

His best performance in a Wolves shirt, that being said the first half he was anonymous and couldn’t beat the first man with multiple corners. Would not have been shocked based on the first half performance if his number had been held up instead of Hwang. Second half was much more impressive, bringing the ball up the pitch and had many touches when playing in a more central position. Positives to be taken for sure in his game.

JORGEN Strand Larsen – 6 (off 84 for Arokodare)

Had a challenging game against two of the best central defenders in the league. Didn’t manage to get an opportunity for himself but played well with his back to goal bringing players into the game around him.

The Subs

(listed in order of appearance)

emmanuel Agbadou – 6

Defensively no errors and handled challenges when faced. On the ball put the ball out of play on multiple occasions. He was clearly not playing the ball into the middle of the pitch as much, hopefully a tactical change to minimise mistakes as has happened across the previous games.

jean ricner Bellegarde – 7

Entered the pitch as Gomes was a red card liability and slotted in next to Andre to perform a great job. Carried the ball well up the pitch and connected the midfield to attacking players well.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 7

Showed desire, pace and quality when coming on the second half, was up and down the wing and clearly frustrated when did not get the ball in progressive opportunities. With time a player with potential to be starting sooner rather than later.

Tolu Arokodare – N/A

Had a couple of tough touches initially when on the pitch but offered a change of focus for Wolves and did a good job when called upon.

Toti – N/A

Entered the pitch to help see out the game, couldn’t do anything for the goal.
