Wolves chairman Jeff Shi Steps down as Fosun make major change at the top
Wolves have confirmed that chairman Jeff Shi has been removed from his position, ending a spell that has defined the Fosun era at Molineux.
Shi has been the public face of the ownership since day one. Fosun completed their takeover in July 2016, and Jeff Shi has led the project at Wolves from the inception of that ownership. Nearly a decade on, his departure marks the biggest boardroom shift since Fosun arrived.
A decision shaped by growing fan anger
This call has not come out of nowhere. Supporter frustration has been building for a long time, and in recent months it has become louder and more visible, with protests and sustained criticism of how the club has been run.
We have written repeatedly on alwayswolves.co.uk about the depth of that feeling. Many fans have believed standards have slipped, ambition has stalled, and communication has felt poor at key moments. Today’s decision is Fosun accepting that the current leadership could not carry on as it was.
What this means for Wolves now
This is not just a change of job title. Wolves now have a clear chance to reset how the club is run and how it speaks to its supporters.
The questions that matter next are immediate:
- Who takes over day to day leadership at board level?
- Will Fosun change approach on recruitment, spending, and long term planning?
- How will the club rebuild trust with a fanbase that has felt ignored for too long?
For many fans, this will feel like a moment of accountability. But it will only mean something if it is followed by real change, not a reshuffle.
Nathan Shi
It is thought that Nathan Shi will take over from Jeff. Nathan has previously worked as a director at Club Med.
