WATCH FOR OUR THOUGHTS AND PREDICTIONS AHEAD OF BRENTFORD V WOLVES

TEAM NEWS

Wolves should have a key option back for Monday night’s trip to Brentford, with Andre returning to contention after serving a suspension that kept him out of last Friday evening’s FA Cup defeat to Liverpool. His availability leaves Rob Edwards close to having a full squad to pick from again. The main question mark is in goal, where Jose Sa was rested for the cup tie due to an ankle knock. Sa has been first choice under Edwards, and Wolves are hopeful the Portuguese keeper will be ready to return between the posts under the lights in west London.

Brentford, now led by Wolves Academy graduate and former Old Gold captain Keith Andrews, have more problems to solve. They will be without Fabio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo for the rest of the season with ACL injuries. Andrews has also confirmed Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Vitaly Janelt (foot), and Josh Dasilva (knee) remain sidelined. Rico Henry is ruled out after a hamstring issue last week, while Reiss Nelson (calf) will have a late fitness test ahead of Monday night.

ROB EDWARDS

  • On having 10 days without a game: “It’s been good – we’ve managed to get a few days after an intense period. It’s been strange having 10 days between games. It’s been needed.”

  • On their hopes, he said: “Our aim is and always has been to try to achieve as many points as possible. Go into every game trying to win it. Try to take things as far as we can and take momentum into next season.”

  • On teenager Mateus Mane: “He has made a great impact and start to his career. It’s too early to be able to put him into the bracket with Premier League legends [for appearances made]. We think a lot of him but he’s got a long way to go. He’s working incredibly hard.”

  • More on Mane, who hasn’t scored for two months: “He’s still been affecting games without scoring. He was involved in goals against Arsenal. He still does things in games a lot of people won’t see that make him important. He’s top of our running every game and most days in training.”

  • On their form: “Once you get momentum you want to try to keep things going and ride that wave. We have had a couple of decent results but our performances for some time have been consistent.”

  • On carrying momentum into next season even if the squad is different: “There will be change in the playing squad. But we, as a football club, need to remember how to win games and make the whole place feel lighter and brighter, which has been happening recently. Try to lift the cloud and find that winning formula.”

  • More on that: “It was difficult when we came here but I feel now, across the board and with the supporters, there’s a different energy around – more people with smiles on their faces and I can see them getting behind the team.”

  • On having 25 days until their next game: “It’s going to be really interesting. We have got a plan of what we want to do. Some players can get down time and a break and a couple of good weeks of training. We’ll arrange at least one game. When we get the guys back [from internationals] we can have another preparation week going into the West Ham game. We have to make the best of it.”

  • On Brentford boss Keith Andrews, his ex-Wolves team-mate: “Keith has done a brilliant job and he should be really proud. He’s one of the candidates for manager of the year. It’s testament to the whole club that they can lose a big player and big manager and continue to grow.”

MATCH STATS & FACTS

  • Brentford are unbeaten in their last four league games against Wolves (W3 D1), and are looking to complete the double over them for the first time since 2015-16 in the Championship.

  • Wolves lost this exact fixture 5-3 last season, ending a five game unbeaten run in away league games against Brentford (W3 D2).

  • After only losing one of their first 11 home league matches of the season (W7 D3), Brentford have since lost two of their last three at the Gtech Community Stadium (D1). The Bees haven’t suffered successive home league defeats since February 2025.

  • Wolves have won their last two Premier League games, having only won one of their previous 32 (D8 L23). Rob Edwards’ side could become the first team to win three consecutive Premier League matches despite starting the day of each one bottom of the table since Leicester City in April 2015.

  • Brentford have had the highest share of their goals come from inside the box in the Premier League this season (98% – 43/44), with no side scoring fewer from distance than the Bees (1, level with Crystal Palace).

  • Wolves have taken just five points from their 19 Premier League games kicking off before 7pm this season (W1 D2 L16), compared to 11 points from their 11 late kick-offs this term (W2 D5 L4).

  • Coming into this weekend’s games, only three teams have had fewer shots than Brentford in the Premier League this season (304), while only five teams have scored more goals (44), giving the Bees the highest shot conversion rate in the competition this term (14.5%).

  • Brentford’s Michael Kayode has created more chances without any of them being converted in the Premier League so far this season (27). However, his long throws into the box have ultimately led to four goals for the Bees, more than any other player this term.

  • Four of Rodrigo Gomes’ five Premier League goals for Wolves have been as a substitute, including all three this season. Of all players to score 5+ in the competition, only Matt Derbyshire (90%) and Fábio Carvalho (83%) have scored a higher share from the bench than Gomes (80%).

  • Brentford’s Igor Thiago has made more off the ball runs both into the attacking third (316) and into the opposition box (151) than any other player in the Premier League this season.
