- FA Cup – The biggest defeat between the two clubs was on the 19th January 1972 and this was a 3rd Round Replay after the original tie finished 1-1 and the game finished 2-0 win for Leicester City.

Wolves, needing a win to make sure of the place in the play-offs, had the worst possible start when they fell behind after three minutes.
Johansson beat two defenders on the left wing and his low cross bounced into the path of Hume who scored with a sweet right-foot strike from 12 yards.
But Wolves deservedly drew level midway through the first-half when Olofinjana crashed the ball into the roof of the net from three yards after City failed to clear a corner.
The lively Kightly put Wanderers ahead when he backheeled the ball home from close range after Logan failed to hold Michael McIndoe’s driven low cross.
Gareth McAuley’s own goal at the start of the second-half all but sealed the win.
The centre-half put through his own net as he tried to intercept Keogh’s low cross from the right.
Leicester’s task became even more difficut when Kisnorbo was sent off after getting his second yellow card.
Keogh made the final score reflect Wolves’ second-half dominance by adding a fourth with a cheeky chipped penalty after McAuley had brought down substitute Ward.

A LITTLE MORE HISTORY
Leicester City 1 Wolves 3 30th April 1949 FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.
This was the 68th Final of the FA Cup where Wolves had finished 6th in the First Division and Leicester City narrowly avoided relegation from the 2nd Division.
Wolves started well in the game and took the lead in the game when Jesse Pye opened the scoring who was playing in the game instead of Dennis Wilshaw to head in on from a cross by Johnny Hancocks.
Leicester City did everything to keep Wolves at bay from getting a 2nd goal until near half time when Jesse Pye collected the ball in the penalty area with his back to goal after Leicester had struggled to clear the corner and Pye turned to slam it home for his 2nd goal of the game.
Second half started and it was Leicester City who got the goal within 2 minutes of the restart when Mal Griffiths who had flicked home the goal after Bert Williams had parried Ken Chisholm’s shot at goal.
Leicester City thought they had scored a equaliser in the game with a narrow offside decision when Ken Chisholm put the ball back of the net.
Wolves put the game out of sight by adding a third goal when Sammy Smyth picked up the ball from the centre circle and he drove through the Leicester City defence and hit a shot into the far corner to make it 3-1 to Wolves.
Final Whistle came and Wolves won the FA cup for the third time in there history and this was the first of five major trophies under the management of Stan Cullis.
The trophy was presented by Princess Elizabeth.
