KARL WHITEHOUSE SHARES HIS RATINGS FOR WOLVES 1-1 DRAW WITH BURNLEY

Jose Sa – 8 (MAN of the match)

Conceded 1 goal in the game where his position was not the best placed, but after that mistake he kept us in it with saves and shot blocking keeping out the relentless pressure of Burnley who were pushing for a winning goal.

Matt Doherty – 6

Brought into replace Santi Bueno looked to sometimes to be in a bank of 4 in the middle of the pitch and then drops back into a 5 when needed. Stood still in the box with no movement and should have had at least went towards the player to stop him from scoring the goal. Had his moments in the Burnley box from corners to cause problems but nothing to shout out about.

Max Kilman – 6.5

Not much about him in the game tried some cross-field balls into the opposition half with some successful and others a bit too far. He did get the ball going to get the free-kick we won in injury time to score the equaliser, could have helped more to stop the goal that was conceded.

Toti Gomes – 6

Played ok didn’t have one of his best games in the defence hardly had much to do just to help out in the clearances in the ball to withstand the Burnley pressure, made two good tackles when they were bearing down on goal.

Nelson Semedo – 6.5

Semedo’s runs into the opposition half are a great sight to see in the opening parts of the game but we also saw poor performance when he didn’t mark properly for the opening goal of the game, he   left the player unmarked only for him to score. Got a yellow card for time wasting in the second half but was there to help out when needed to stop the Burnley attacks.

Rayan Ait Nouri – 8

Scored from Sarabia’s free kick to get the equaliser making it 3 goals from 4 games. Rayan was involved more in the forward position which clearly did work out well and  the team should have created more chances if they had utilised his pace and  great runs through the wall of players.

Hugo Bueno – 5.5

Brought in to replace Tommy Doyle, didn’t make any impression in the side didn’t fit well to the system Gary used tonight. Hugo has not taken any of the form he had ast season into this season still room for improvement.

Joao Gomes – 7

In a midfield two with his partner Lemina did a job to stop anything past him and  had a chance on goal which he missed. He showed his credentials playing well but he did pickup a yellow card late on.

Mario Lemina – 7

Had a chance ear the end with a great header but hit the post. He plays better in midfield with Gomes in the two instead of the forward line where he has been covering for injuries.

Pablo Sarabia – 7

Played behind Chiwome in a change of system tonight. Produced one moment of quality in the game getting the free kick in towards Ait Nouri to score the equaliser but then in the second half he didn’t have much of the ball and was guilty losing the ball when getting towards the opposition.

Leon Chiwome – 6

Given his second start of the season, looked ok in parts of the game but started to show signs of tiredness. He needs the support of the team around him to get balls to him so at least get a chance or effort on goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Santi Bueno – 6.5

Came on for Hugo Bueno in the second half as a tactical change in the side to stop the wave of attacks by Burnley changing formation to 3/5 at the back.He was unlucky to be  dropped for tonight’s game after being the first team lineup for the last month. He has been our best defender in the side up to now.

Matheus Cunha – 6

Nice to see him back after being out 7 weeks with a hamstring injury. He was given 18 minutes to get some fitness built up he had some moments with touches, but fitness is the key to the Cunha we know where he can score goals and help his teammates get goals.

Boubacar Traore – 4

Came on for Sarabia to be a defensive midfielder to stem the flow of Burnley attacking near the end of the game, made two bad touches in the game where he lost the ball.

THE MANAGER

Gary O’Neil Manager – 5

Today made two changes in the side after the defeat against Aston Villa to try and make the team fresh. Tried a formation to match  Burnley’s style of play which clearly didn’t work well, he should have kept the formation we know that works well in the past games. Not a good performance from Wolves against a tam that are fighting for their premier league status. To take a leaf from your Gary’s book ‘there is room for improvement.’
