WOLVES FANS SHARE THEIR THOUGHT FOLLOWING DEFEAT TO WEST HAM

GEORGE LAKIN

O’Neil simply shouldn’t have been in charge tonight. None of this El Sackico nonsense should ever have been allowed to happen.

Losing is a habit. We’ve become habitual losers. West Ham literally couldn’t help but win. They won by default.

He’s not even a dead man walking anymore, he’s a rotting corpse. This club needs change and O’Neil knows that as much as anyone. Keeping him on any longer is nothing more than an exercise in negligence.

Tonight was utterly farcical, the man wants his pay off. Just give it him and let’s all move on.

And yes, we should’ve had at least one penalty but it changes very little in my eyes.

Post match scuffling points to an indisciplined and temperamental camp. A fish rots from the head down, and every bit of damage done needs to be undone if we are to survive. That task gets more difficult with each passing day.

None of this bodes well. This is what teams that get relegated look like.

These are dark times.

TYLER PRICE

Set pieces. AGAIN. What do these players focus on in training… this zonal marking just is not working! This is rookie stuff weekly. Soucek given years to just poke it goalwards and of course it goes in! Cunha was so bad today I cannot get my head around it, has he just given up? He clearly isn’t playing for Gary anymore and he is so disinterested it is ridiculous. Been poor for a few games now but many refuse to pick up on that because he loves the club… which is great but the performances on the pitch to save us from relegation is needed immediately from the team as a whole. Mario Lemina making his feelings known at the final whistle tackling Bowen to the ground also and squaring up to Shaun Derry… this football club is an absolute mess right now its heart wrenching to watch. Gary O Neil’s tenure as Wolves manager HAS to end tomorrow morning like I’ve stated before.

CRAIG HICKEY

Well, we committed the usual mistakes tonight, a solid first half at the back, bodies on the line and showed some fight. The second half we reverted to type again, failing to stop a far post header looping in with no effort to stop it from Johnstone or Gomes. We had two valid shouts for two penalties tonight and got denied, knew it before it was even handed to VAR. A goal from Doc that deserved a point but it wasn’t to be. A foul on Santi that led to the ball going back to Bowen who scored. It’s another defeat and sadly we are very much in the proverbial. I know what everyone will say about the obvious…..the fixtures have been winnable since Brentford to be honest. I’m lost for words now, a real low point for me since we came back into the Premier League.

I think the change will happen but who the hell can get us out of this mess and how soon, we are clinging onto a lifeboat in a heavy storm and need rescuing…….

BLACKPOOL WOLF

Well surely that was Gary O’Neil’’s last game as Wolves manager. For the first time in a very long time I wasn’t looking forward to tonight’s game. I felt flat myself and the whole game was flat.

I thought Lemina had a decent game but I’m disgusted with his reaction at the end pushing his own players and staff is completely unacceptable. His beef was with Bowen not his own team who were trying to calm him down so he wouldn’t get sent off.

Doherty has been a real positive in recent games and he deserved his goal today. He gets more balls into the box and gets himself in good positions at the back post.

Once again subs uninspiring
Doyle 12 mins R.Gomes 4 mins Bellegarde first on pitch again ???

VAR should have stepped in many times in this game Guedes, Bellegarde, West Ham’s first goal should not have been a corner.

Massive change needed GON OUT, HOBBS OUT and change of captain. (Not just the disrespect he showed today but I’ve been saying all season we need more from a captain let him concentrate on his own game.)

John taras

The dismay began 60 minutes before kick-off when we saw the team sheet. No Dawson, starting Doherty, Semedo and Ait-Nouri. Plus Toti and Bueno. But who’s playing where?

Andre, Gomes and Lemina, which hasn’t clicked all season! Cunha playing behind Larsen. Where are the crosses going to come from for Larsen? If Cunha roams, then Larsen is isolated!

The first half was forgettable. Neither side showed any urgency. Wolves were certainly not trying to win the game to save O’Neil’s job!

Once again, Wolves left players unmarked at a corner. Souček gleefully headed in a looping shot unchallenged. Replays showed it wasn’t a corner! But there is no challenge available for a wrong decision!

Wolves woke up, and the enthusiastic Doherty rifled home a cross into the corner of Fabianski’s goal.

Not for the first time, the decision for West Ham’s second goal went against Wolves. Bueno was climbed all over and bundled to the ground. The ball broke to Bowen, who lashed it past Johnstone.

O’Neil made desperate substitutions, but Wolves couldn’t get back into the game. Wolves didn’t deserve to win, but both of West Ham’s goals resulted from errors by the referee!

Another defeat. The team had no structure or plan. Gomes got his fifth booking, so he misses Saturday’s match against Ipswich. Based on this performance, both Ipswich and Leicester will fancy their chances of getting points. The team can’t do the basics on the pitch, like marking players at free kicks and corners. This should be drilled on the training ground. Players don’t appear to know their roles and where they’re supposed to be. At times, it’s like a race to challenge for the ball! Several players go for the same opposition player.

No leadership. All this goes back to the manager. He sets up the team. He sets the style of play. Wolves currently lack all these qualities.

A change is needed before the team becomes adrift from the rest of the table and the gap between the bottom three and fourth bottom grows!

In the past month, Wolves have lost convincingly to three fellow struggling teams. Don’t be fooled by tonight’s 2-1 loss; Wolves were poor, and at no point during the 90 minutes did it seem like Wolves would win the game!

Once again, a dissatisfied fan hoped for a more committed and energetic performance.

PAM WELLS

Well all set for probably the most important game of the season so far.

We were playing 5 at the back with Semedo in the middle of defence and Doherty as a wing back.

The game started and it looked like 2 teams who were both scared of losing but West Ham found their feet and pressed  really hard but our defence played a little bit better. We gave away quite a few corners and free kicks but for once managed to not concede from any of them.

We offered very little going forward with Gomes having the best chance but not managing to convert.

No changes at half time but they still came after us and  finally they scored from a corner which after watching the replay wasn’t a corner in my opinion. We then brought on Guedes and Bellegarde replacing Larsen and Andre. We started to look a lot sharper and Doherty finally managed to get us the equaliser. Lo and behold as is normal with Wolves they went down and took the lead again almost straight away although there looked like a foul in the build up.

We should have had a penalty for a foul on Guedes but VAR didn’t give it and later on we should have had another one for a foul on Bellegarde but yet again nothing given. Try as we may we could not find an equaliser and our defence looked as if it could concede at anytime .

So the big match ended with a win for West Ham.

To finish off a terrible night the scenes with Lemina at the end were disgraceful he completely lost the plot. Yes he may have been disappointed but he is the captain where was his leadership?  Gomes is out for the Ipswich game and Lemina could be in trouble for his behaviour.

We are becoming something of a joke club. Everyone will know how to beat us.
I am afraid it can’t go on any longer GON has to go in the morning and bring someone in to get these players heads back in the right positive attitude

KARL WHITEHOUSE

We started the first half well with plenty of possession and control of the ball but sometimes are frantic at times with issues.

Rayan Ait Nouri produces a great block to stop a certain West Ham goal to keep it at 0-0 plus having Sam Johnstone back in the side tonight has made a difference nice seeing the long goal kicks back in the side so we can from end of the pitch to the other side.

Just some concerns when West Ham get free kicks as they are trying to exploit our weaknesses with the set piece but so far touch wood no problems.

We need some pace and drive in our side to get us moving forward.

One thing I am pleased that has gone tonight the Lemina experiment in the CB role better been in midfield.

Overall good first half but we need to get some more chances in the game and threaten the goal of West Ham to go ahead in the game everything to play for in the second half.

Second half starts and guess what happens yet again another set piece goal conceded from a corner with no one at the back post they don’t learn from previous mistakes this season this is so embarrassing.

Doherty and Ait Nouri both link up well together to get us back in the game with good link up but what happens after that we concede again how many times have we done this in games this season after getting equaliser so frustrating to see.

Why was VAR not used to check for a penalty is a question when Bellegarde is trod on the foot in the box just shows the officials don’t like us yet again where have we said that before.

We have time in injury time of the game and we didn’t even create a chance in the end and now this is a wolves fan now saying enough is enough Gary is not going to be our manager for the next game it is out of his depth where our players are lost on the field and don’t know where they have to play with no identity let’s have this change of direction otherwise it is too late to sort it as we will be relegated at the end of the season just so embarrassing.
