Louie Lefevre update you on Josh Esen's first loan move to Redditch United.

20-year-old Josh Esen has completed a loan move to Southern League Premier Central side Redditch United.

Esen makes his career first loan move in search of first-team football in seventh tier of the English pyramid. Esen signed for Wolves back in 2021 from Welsh outfit Llanelli Town when he was just 16.

A former Welsh youth international with eligibility for Turkey has a contract at Compton Park until 2026 and will now look to impress in the hopes of a loan move higher up next season.

The striker played 18 minutes on Monday as a late substitute in the U21s draw with Sunderland in the Premier League Cup.

The loan will provide Esen with valuable minutes and exposure while Dani Angel continues to operate as the main goalscorer for James Collins’ side. Redditch are currently 14th in the league and could hand their new arrival a debut this weekend when they host St. Ives Town at The Valley stadium.

It’s a competitive position up-front for Wolves U21s with Nathan Fraser and Dani Angel vying for the spot, while Esen joins Fletcher Holman and Fabio Silva as the frontmen honing their craft away from Wolverhampton. Leon Chiwome is set for a spell on the sidelines with an ACL injury.
