WOLVES TRANSFER ROUND UP – HWANG, ELVEDI, O’BRIEN & MORE

Wolves have been busy this season, landing four new signings while selling Max Kilman to West Ham. Kilman’s move brought in £40 million, giving Wolves a solid budget to work with. They’ve shown interest in QPR’s Jake Clarke-Salter, willing to pay £10 million for the defender and Nico Elvedi has been on the radar for a long time. With Premier League ambitions high, Wolves are making strategic moves to strengthen their squad. here’s the latest gossip

Joao Gomes

Will Manchester City test Wolves’ resolve to keep Joao Gomes with a bid this summer? Wolves fans won’t want to sell, but City might just push them to make a decision. Gomes has shown he’s got what it takes to bolster City’s midfield and give Rodri some much-needed support. With other top clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool also eyeing him, the pressure is on. Wolves aren’t in a rush to sell, but a tempting offer from City might change their mind. This summer could see some intense negotiations, and Wolves fans will be hoping their club stands firm.

Hwang Hee-Chan

Wolves have turned down a £21m bid from Robert De Zerbi’s Marseille for Hwang Hee-Chan. They’ve made it clear that the South Korean striker is not for sale. De Zerbi’s interest in Hwang isn’t surprising given his strong performances, but Wolves want to keep their key player. They’re sending a strong message: hands off Hwang.

Dan Bentley

Wolves have quickly turned down Arsenal’s £50,000 bid for goalkeeper Dan Bentley, considering it derisory. Wolves value Bentley at £1 million, a far cry from the offer on the table. Despite Bentley having just one year left on his contract, Wolves stand firm on their price, wanting to reinvest the funds. Bentley, who began his youth career at Arsenal, is seen as a potential replacement if Aaron Ramsdale leaves. However, Arsenal will need to dig much deeper into their pockets to make this deal happen.

Chiquino

Sporting CP are gearing up to bid for Wolves winger Chiquinho. The Portuguese side are ready to move after the player’s impressive loan spell at Famalicão, which caught their attention. Wolves are open to offers, but want to recoup the €6 million they originally spent on him. Chiquinho, who hasn’t played for Wolves since the 2021/22 season due to injuries and loans, is keen on staying in Portugal and playing in the Champions League. Sporting might even include a loan-to-buy offer to sweeten the deal.

Etienne Youte Kinkoue

Wolves are eyeing Etienne Youte Kinkoue from Le Havre to strengthen their defence following Max Kilman’s departure. Kinkoue, a standout performer in Ligue 1, is entering the final year of his contract and could be available for around £7 million. Wolves see the 22-year-old as a key acquisition to shore up their backline. His consistent performances have put him high on their list, and securing his transfer could be crucial for Wolves as they aim to improve their defensive stats.

Nico Elvedi

Wolves have eyed Nico Elvedi for a while now, and he could be the perfect fit to replace Max Kilman. Elvedi’s solid performances at Borussia Monchengladbach and his ability to play out from the back make him an excellent candidate. With Kilman gone to West Ham, Wolves need a dependable centre-back. Elvedi, with over 300 outings for Gladbach, fits the bill. Wolves must act fast to nab him at a bargain price before his release clause expires at the end of July.

David Carmo

David Carmo is on Wolves’ radar as a key target to replace Max Kilman, but recent reports suggest the move may not happen. Despite being linked strongly to Wolves, Carmo has expressed his desire to stay at Porto and fight for his place. His commitment to Porto, paired with the club’s reluctance to sell, casts serious doubt on his potential transfer to Molineux. While Wolves could offer more playing time and better wages, Carmo’s current stance suggests they’ll need to look elsewhere for Kilman’s replacement.

Jake O’Brien

Wolverhampton Wanderers have decided to back off from pursuing Olympique Lyonnais defender Jake O’Brien after making an initial enquiry. They found Lyon’s asking price of £25 million too steep. This move allows Nottingham Forest and Everton, who are keen on O’Brien, to step up their interest without Wolves in the mix. Wolves, despite having a hefty transfer budget from recent sales, prefer to spread their funds across multiple positions rather than splurge on one player.

Marcus Vinnicius

Wolves are keen on bringing in another Brazilian talent this summer, with Marcus Vinnicius firmly on their radar. The 17-year-old striker currently plays for Palmeiras and has impressed scouts with his versatility and raw talent. Wolves have a solid track record of finding gems in Brazil, with players like Matheus Cunha and Joao Gomes proving successful. However, they face stiff competition from Spurs, Newcastle, and Benfica. Marcus is set to sign a one-year deal at Palmeiras this summer. He is expected to have a £85 million release clause in his contract. However, Palmerias are open to negotiating a deal.. Still, Vinnicius could be a game-changer if they manage to secure his signature.

Jake Clarke-Salter

Wolves will need to stump up around £10 million to secure Jake Clarke-Salter from Queens Park Rangers. The defender is a top target for the club after losing Max Kilman to West Ham. QPR aren’t expected to put up much resistance if the bid is right, knowing a move to the Premier League is a big draw for Clarke-Salter. The 26-year-old has a solid track record, including stints at several clubs and 33 appearances last season. With Wolves keen to fill the gap left by Kilman, Clarke-Salter looks to be a possible solution.
