SEAN GIVES HIS THOUGHTS FOLLOWING THE NEWS THAT RUBEN NEVES IS ON HIS WAY TO AL-HILAL
They’ve got Golf.
They’ve got Newcastle Utd.
They’ve pretty much sown up heavyweight boxing and now They’ve got our midfielder.
Ruben Neves to Al Hilal ?
Really ?
If that’s the case then it’s all about the money and nothing at all to do with footballing aspirations.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t blame him.
It has been suggested he has been offered ten times the wages he is on now, which by my reckoning puts him on about half a million a week…on a five year deal.
Ruben has just got to make sure he’s really careful in his post match interviews.
One wrong statement and he could find himself murdered, chopped up into little pieces and buried in the woods.
That message he sent to Joao saying “See you soon, we both know where” makes more sense now, with Moutinho also rumoured to be heading for the middle east.
I’ve been following Nuno’s fortunes over there on Youtube and to be honest the general standard seems Championship at best and League One at other times.
Although lots of top players are taking the oil money most of them are coming to the end of their careers.
Ruben however, is in his prime and that’s why I struggle to understand why he is going there, unless of course Uncle George has got something in the pipeline and Ruben will only be staying for a year. Maybe two.
With only twelve months left on his deal, 47 million is fantastic business for Wolves but In my humble opinion, Ruben is irreplaceable anyway.
Name me one player anywhere near Ruben’s level who is going to come to Wolves even if we could afford him.
Struggling ?
So am I.
But still, at least he hasn’t gone to another Premier League team or even a Champions League outfit where we would have been constantly reminded what we were missing.
Ruben gone.
Joao gone.
Adama gone.
Anyone who thinks we aren’t going to miss those three is deluded.
After saving Wolves from the drop, Lopetigue’s stock has never been higher. I can’t imagine he would have agreed to stay without being assured that Wolves have a few transfer rabbits ready to pull out of their hat…..
And if they haven’t, Al Hilal are looking for a manager.
The meek aren’t going to inherit the earth. The eldest son of the of the Saudi leader will.
