How Did Wolves Stack Up Against Liverpool? Player RATINGS

JOHN TARAS SHARES HIS THOUGHTS AND PLAYER RATINGS FOLLOWING WOLVES DEFEAT TO LIVERPOOL

SAM Johnstone: 5

Made two good saves but his distribution was laboured, lacking any creativity. Might have done better with the first goal.

NELSON Semedo: 4

Repeatedly done for pace and gave away a soft penalty straight after a hard won equaliser.

Toti: 5

He battled tirelessly against Jota and Gapo. Making last ditch tackles and interceptions..

SANTIAGO Bueno: 5

Like Toti worked tirelessly against Liverpool front line. Replaced by Doyle on 77 minutes.

RAYAN Ait-Nouri: 5

Tough time against Salah. Caught out for pace with Liverpools speed in attack. But in the right place to tap in the equaliser.

JEAN-RICNER Bellegarde: 4

Ineffective on the wing. Lacked the commitment to go past players.  Replaced with Forbs on 52 minutes.

JOAO Gomes: 5

Gave away foul after foul. Does the snarling all game but doesn’t possess the creativity.

Andre: 5

Industrious in his play but like Gomes doesn’t contribute to the attack. Got booked unluckily when he actually won the ball on     the edge of Wolves box.

MARIO Lemina: 5

Seemed to be everywhere on the pitch. Breaking up the play and disrupting Liverpools flow. Second half was playing too deep receiving the ball from Johnstone and carelessly gave the ball away to Salah without looking. Luckily Salah hit it wide.

MATHEUS Cunha: 4

Another game where Cunha drifted in and out of play. He needs to support Larsen more. For a player of his ability his shooting was poor and off target.

JORGEN STRAND Larsen: 5

Battled away again and his persistence forced the defensive error allowing him to cross the ball from the goal line and Ait- Nouri was able to pick up the deflection and tap in the equaliser. Larsen isn’t being used fully. He’s the target man for Johnstones long kicks but he doesn’t get the attacking service he should be getting to utilise his abilities. Unlucky to be replaced by Hwang.

Game Management:

This is difficult to write. Liverpool didn’t perform like a team that with the win, go top of the table and Wolves are still rooted to the bottom. We matched and competed with Liverpool until 47 minutes when a lapse allowed the first goal.

Second half we didn’t sit back and persistence got the equaliser. For me the penalty was unlucky. You see those wrestling challenges go unpunished at every corner or free kick in every Premier League game. Wolves still had a chance to equalise but Forbs didn’t look up. Much better second half than the Villa game.

Subs:

CARLOS Forbs: 4

Came on for Bellegarde to take on the fullback with pace. But it didn’t materialise. Missed a glorious chance to square the ball to Hwang for an open goal and second equaliser. Choosing instead to shoot into the defender when a glance up would have seen Hwang wide open|

Hwang HEE-CHAN: 4

Came on surprisingly for Larsen when Wolves were losing 2-1. Didn’t really have an impact on the game.

TOMMY Doyle: 4

Replaced Bueno towards the end. But Wolves could have done with his creative passing at the start to hurt Liverpool.
