NICK PARKES GIVES HIS PLAYER RATINGS FOR WOLVES IN THEIR DEFEAT TO ARSENAL.
JOSE SA 4
Conceded two goals early on and got caught out of position for the second. Good save however to prevent a third early on and was subbed off injured shortly after.
NELSON SEMEDO 4
Had a tough time against Martinelli who was a constant threat. Struggled defensively and offered very little going forward throughout the game. Did do well however to steal the ball back for Cunha’s goal so it wasn’t all bad from Semedo.
CRAIG DAWSON 5
Poor defending to allow Saka’s goal, should have been stronger. Apart from that that he didn’t have a bad game.
MAX KILMAN 5
Similar to Dawson in that he didn’t have a bad game overall. Very sloppy pass straight to an Arsenal player in the first half which could have easily resulted in a third goal.
TOTI GOMES 3
Struggled defensively against the quick Arsenal attackers and shocking in possession. The amount of times he gave away possession by poor passing or playing long balls was criminal.
HUGO BUENO 6
Considering it was his first game back and against one of the best attackers in the league he did OK. Gifted too much room in the build up to the first goal and Saka made him look foolish at times but when Wolves were under pressure he looked to be positive going forward and try to drag Wolves up field. Was subbed off in the second half but a decent performance against a very difficult opponent.
jean-richer bellegarde 4
Showed glimpses of talent going forward but really struggled defensively and in a game where Wolves were under constant pressure, he switched off too many times and allowed runners to ghost passed him. Was at fault as he allowed Odeegard a free chance on goal for the 2nd.
TOMMY DOYLE 4
Can’t fault the effort but made to look amateurish against the Arsenal midfield, got dragged around the pitch chasing shadows. When in possession he was guilty of backward passing instead of looking to be creative. Has talent but way out of his depth against these opponents.
BOUBACAR TRAORE 4
Similar to Doyle, fully committed and tried his best but was chasing his own tail for most of the match. Did OK when doubling up on Martinelli in the second half to prevent Arsenal attacking down our right but overall outclassed by a much better midfield.
HWANG HEE-CHAN 2
Maybe not the worst performance on the pitch by a Wolves player but the lack of effort and attitude was nothing short of disgraceful. Complained at every decision against him, booked for diving, lack of commitment when pressing, lack of desire to reach balls when he had chances, shocking finishing. Although Wolves were outclassed today, every other player gave 100% effort, the same can not be said for Hwang.
MATHEUS CUNHA 7 MAN OF THE MATCH
The only player who can really leave London with a positive next to his name. Tirelessly came short to pick up the goal and look to drive at Arsenal, it wasn’t his best performance in a Wolves shirt but he looked to be positive and never gave up. He applauded every poor ball which came his way and never let his head drop. Created chances for himself and took his goal excellently. Great to see him pick up more goals.
SUBSTITUTES
DAN BENTLEY 6
Came on for the injured Sa in the first half and although he rode his luck with the ball hitting the post a few times, he kept a clean sheet which is what counts for him.
MATT DOHERTY 5
Got himself in some promising positions in the attacking third and should have been braver on one or two chances. A typical steady ‘Doc’ performance.
PABLO SARABIA 4
Every Wolves fan was hoping for a ‘Spurs Special’ but was subdued in attack today, given just 25 minutes to impress but didn’t do much (no one in a Wolves shirt did much).
SAS KALAJSZIC N/A
Came on too late to make any impact
