SEAN STANTON SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ON WOLVES PLAYER RATINGS VS FOREST

A massive game.

A Midlands derby and a relegation six pointer.

Who stepped up to the plate ?

JOSE SA - 5

Came for the ball, then hesitated, then left in no man’s land and for the second time in as many games he let the ball in between his legs for the opponents to score from a difficult angle. Not good. Apart from that, he was solid enough.

NELSON SEMEDO - 6

He was ok going forward  but dodgy in defence. He seems to back off and let attackers run at him. Final pass often lacking too. Booked.

CRAIG DAWSON - 5.5

Quite a few wayward passes today and when Wolves were pressing for an equaliser his lack of pace was exposed on the counter attack. Subbed after 65 mins and the quicker Toti moved into central defence.

MAX KILMAN - 6.5

Didn’t notice any mistakes. Seemed pretty solid. Spread the ball about well. Had a bit of a run and shot just wide from outside the box.

TOTI GOMES - 6

Struggled to contain Johnson and a bit sluggish getting a challenge in for their goal but was OK in possession. Strong in the tackle and quick. Booked.

RUBEN NEVES - 7

A soft booking means he’ll miss the next two games. That’s a disaster for Wolves. Solid as ever but guilty of more than a few wayward passes today.

MARIO LEMINA - 5.5

Ok without being imposing. He does seem to be tailing off a bit after his really promising start. A pretty innocuous first half resulted in him being subbed at half time.

MATHEUS NUNES - 6

Flashes of quality. Oozing confidence. Prepared to run at people and take them on but still no big contribution. Loses possession too often.

JOAO MOUTINHO - 5.5

Largely anonymous. Always looks better when he comes on as an impact sub these days. Replaced at the interval. Booked

ADAMA TRAORE - 5.5

Closely marked. Fouled constantly. A great run resulted in him going down in the box but it wasn’t an obvious pen. Not his day. Made way for Costa after 65.

MATHEUS CUNHA - 5.5

Makes endless runs. Works hard but it just isn’t happening for him. Needs to use his size and physique more. Often caught in possession. Replaced by Neto in the 80th min

SUBSTITUTIONS

DANIEL PODENCE - 8

Came on at half time and wasn’t having that much of an impact but it was a great finish by the little guy.  He very nearly got sent off for gobbling on a Forest player as well but a VAR check showed that no spit actually came out of his mouth.

PABLO SARABIA - 5.5

Also on at half time. Tried to make things happen but it didn’t always work out for him. Booked.

HUGO BUENO - 5.5

Good to see him back. He will be needed (What the hell has happened to Rayan?) Didn’t get much of a chance to express himself.

DIEGO COSTA - 7

Made a difference because he is such a presence. Put himself about and held the ball up well. Seemed much more visible than Cunha.

PEDRO NETO - 6

Not on long enough to have much of an impact.
We lost to Bournemouth.
We lost to Leeds.
We scraped a draw with Forest.

WE ARE IN TROUBLE.
