NICK PARKES GIVES HIS PLAYER RATINGS FOR WOLVES DEFEAT TO LEICESTER

JOSE SA - 6

Obviously will grab the headlines for all the wrong reasons in conceding another penalty, especially when Wolves were on top. But he did make some crucial saves and kept us in the game at times. Typical Sa performance; excellent shot stopper, dreadful decision maker.

NELSON SEMEDO - 5

A poor performance compared to his decent form of late. Sloppy passes and caught out of position defensively numerous times. Nowhere to be seen in the build up for Leicester winning goal.

MAX KILMAN - 6

Another decent performance as “skipper”. His positioning of late has been very intelligent and again in this game. Right place, right time.

CRAIG DAWSON - 6

Looked threatening in attack in the first half and made an excellent last ditch tackle to keep the score at 2-1 in the second half.

TOTI GOMES - 5

The poorest of our re-designed left back performances since his return to the side. Rash tackles and caught out of position at times.

MARIO LEMINA - 6

Did excellently to win the ball back for our goal and along with Gomes, we held complete control of the the midfield in the first half. Came off at half time with an injury and with Leicester changing their formation, we really missed his positioning awareness and ball winning ability to steady the ship.

JOAO GOMES - 7 & MAN OF THE MATCH

Was excellent in the first half in particular. Tenacious and hungry to win every ball back and look to push the play forward. Struggled to influence the game in the second half but did draw a foul in a promising position after an amazing forward run in the second half.

MATHEUS NUNES - 6

A mixed performance from the improved Nunes. Good passes, bad passes, needless offsides, poor positioning, good positioning, no tracking back, almost set up Toti for the equaliser. Not his worst performance but not as effective as recent matches.

PABLO SARABIA - 6

Looked more aggressive going forward and had a couple a decent shots but then also lost the ball to give Leicester a great opportunity to score. Similar to many players, a mixed performance.

MATHEUS CUNHA - 7

A deadly finish to put us one nil up in the first half but after that his final balls and decision making were very poor. Wolves were on top in the first half and more decisive passes could and should have given us a bigger advantage. Obviously scoring goals is what he is in the team to do but his overall performance wasn’t good.

DIEGO COSTA - 6

A real nuisance up front for the Leicester defenders and linked play well with other attacking players in the first half. Needed better service from Cunha to cause any real threat on goal but put himself about in a very typical Costa way. He was not a happy bunny to be subbed and I can understand why.

SUBSTITUTIONS

RUBEN NEVES - 5

Typical Neves performance, always looking for the miracle ball, which he did at times. Unlucky with a few freekicks, one saved well. Albeit a few good results of late, a surprise to see him on the bench and some fans will clearly see Neves’s arrival at half time and Wolves’s shocking second half performance as more than a mere coincidence.

HWANG HEE-CHAN - 5

Usually makes an impression from the bench (i.e scores from his first touch) but as Wolves struggled to muster any real attack in the second half he was limited to scraps.

JOAO MOUTINHO - 5

Playing Neves and Moutinho together away from home should be when are 2-1 up, not 2-1 down. I love his passion and commitment but he offers nothing going forward and didn’t in this game.

PEDRO NETO - 5

Always good to see him on the pitch and I cannot wait for him to have a full preseason and ready to fire. But sadly, at the moment he is not ready. Running with your head down constantly and blind crossing, hoping for the best is not a successful tactic.

Wolves failed drastically to contain the formation & personnel change from Leicester in the second half. Subs made little impact and lack of positional awareness and sloppy mistakes cost us. But hey, still 6 points safe with 6 to go. A win on Tuesday against Palace and that should see us home and dry!
