JAMES HALLETT GIVES HIS PLAYER RATINGS FOR WOLVES 5-1 DEFEAT AT THE ETIHAD

JOSE SA - 5

Despite conceding 5, he did make some good saves. We can let him off the penalties. He’s never been great at saving them, so I’ve come to expect a penalty to be a certain goal.

Hugo Bueno – 5.5

A bit lack-luster. Made a few good charges forward but nothing really threatening.

Toti Gomes – 6

Thought he was our best defender today. Expectedly strong and powerful, making a few crucial interceptions.

Max Kilman – 4.5

In my opionion, hes been off it for a while now. Not the same player we had a few years ago. Mistakes and more mistakes. Should seriously consider offers for him in the summer.

Nelson Semedo –5.5

Despite the penalty, I thought he played quite average. Not the great Nelson Semedo performance we know he can produce.

Rayan Ait-Nouri – 6.5

Played well today. I’m going to completely ignore the penalty he gave away due to the fact it was never a penalty. Was tricky on the ball and made some nice passes down the line to Cunha and Hwang at times.

Boubacar Traore – 6

Just the definition of an average performance. Did nothing majorly wrong but didn’t shine above others. We can all see the potential though.

Mario Lemina – 6

Mario always had a difficult role today. Being the central midfielder against this city team would give anyone nightmares. I know the result doesn’t display the performance, but Mario did an alright job against them.

Joao Gomes – 7

I’m giving Joao a 7 solely down to his mentality. After a difficult game, he immediately came to the fans and spent what seemed an eternity clapping us. Class act from a class player.

Matheus Cunha – 5.5

We all know what Matheus can do, but today just wasn’t his day. Not any real clear cut chances for him and he found it tricky to breakdown the City defence

Hwang Hee-Chan – 7 & MAN OF THE MATCH

The only goal scorer took his chance nicely. Was our only real chance of the game and Hwang did well to slot it away. Often found himself offside which is something that often cost us momentum.

SUBSTITUTES

Bellegarde – 6.5 – Great to see some him back. He came on at halftime and got an assist at 3-1. A nice cross to Hwang gave us our only goal of the evening. Surely must give him some confidence.

Santi-Bueno – N/A

Sarabia – N/A

Chirewa – N/A
