WOLVES FACE GILLINGHAM IN THE CARABAO CUP TO GET THE LOPETEGUI ERA STARTED

Let’s face it Wolves have been struggling this season and confidence is low, we currently sit slap bang at the bottom of the Premier League but we are all hoping Julen can instil some belief in these players. Let’s face it we have some brilliant individual players but as a team we are just not living up to expectations. Gillingham also sit at the bottom of the table of League 2. Wolves have not progressed to a quarter final in the EFL cup in 27 years so will it be our year?

Gillingham are not to be underestimated, they showed in the last round that they are capable of overcoming Premier League opposition on away territory, coming from behind to eventually defeat Brentford in a penalty shootout.

In this competition Wolves have beaten both Preston and Leeds at home so far; Boubacar Traoré with a late winner in the latter.  Gillingham have beaten AFC Wimbledon before beating both Exeter City and Premier League side Brentford. Against Brentford, Mikael Mandron equalized with a header, his side’s only shot of the night before Gillingham prevailed 6-5 on penalties.

Jonny is still not fit and won’t feature in this one, also Boubacar Traore is unavailable having gone for a scan on his groin. Julen has advised Raul Jimenez is still not fit but is working hard but won’t make a start.
